at 3 clubs i asked the Dj if he could spin "Gett Off" 4 me,
& they all say pretty much the same thing & nearly laugh at ya like:
"hehe nah i dont play no Prince,sorry man".

then i just ask 4 an LL Cool J track & i get "Paradise"



I say every DJ should be given instead of a diploma at the end of DJing 101,a copy of the GettOff 12" & spin that badass PurplePump mix every hour on the hour!

hehe ok so now maybe i am getting carried away (hmmm nah i dunno )

but am i the only one who gets this being in Australia?

seems P doesnt get the respect he deserves & i am sure if the Dj's spun trax like GettOff,Days O' Wild,Sexy MF,18 & Over,Joint2Joint,Hot Thing,etc... that they would get a crowd movin as much as the latest Nelly or Xtina or Timberlake track would.

If u want a Prince track spun in a Sydney club these days, the only place u can get it is at either a Retro club, or the various "80's nights" clubs have usually on during the week.

(unless it's a dance club and they play one of those white label remixes).

Otherwise - NO

Maybe some 30 sumthing DISCO.

i hit the rnb/hip hop clubs.
dance/techno isn't my thing.

A local club that plays a mixture of top 40 hits continues to play "Pussy Control" almost every weekend.

oddly enough, in germany i hear "kiss" and "alphabet st." quite frequently.

...and the floor stays FULL!

I recently heard techno tracks remixes of Controversy and Lovebyzare. Kiss is a classic played about every 80's night party. By the way, do the DJ's play JAnet Jackson, Beatles or Hendreix or even recent Madona stuff? No, they play tech House or commercial tunes.

Ionly go to clubs where I know the DJ(i get in for free) and I beg for a Prince so and they accomodate me just to shut me up.

He gets played at some underground gay clubs

for the most part, i only ever hear his music in the 80's rooms of clubs. once in a while i hear the techno remix of kiss or the new white label version of controversy (which is pretty hot too).

A few months back, they played Pussy Control at a local club.

I live in a town full of bible thumping rednecks...I was AMAZED that they played this :O

I used 2 go 2 a strip club and they played Prince regularly mostly songs like Pussy control kiss gett off cream darlin nikki ... but sometimes I would pay the dancer 2 play lesser know songs like Hide the bone ... scaret pussy ... and 1 nite I was so drunk I asked her 2 play Courtin time and she did it for the price of a LAP DANCE ... lol I miss drinkin ... No I dont ...lol

Depends on what type of club you go to.If you go to a techno-type club,you won't hear any Prince.But I've gone to clubs that play R&B/hip-hop and I've been pleasantly surprised when the DJ played "Erotic City" and "Kiss".

Still ?? I've been going to clubs my whole life and Prince never was played in major clubs. I love the music but its just not hopping club material.

in the UK they often play prince in clubs / bars...usuallystuff like kiss,get off,cream and pussy control...but i sometimes hear the goodlife remixes and erotic city..

"Pussy Control" gets played every time I go out and "Kiss" gets a lot of play as well. They even busted "Erotic City" last month. If you're a regular club-goer, you get more perks.

i dj at several different spots and i always take some prince with me. i get a good reaction to it all the time.
i have noticed that a few djs do that from time to time.

i dj at a couple of different clubs here... and the only songs that get requested are the usual:: "p control" (a LOT), "kiss", "cream" and "erotic city". every now and then i will play some of the earlier stuff (i wanna be your lover, controversy, when doves cry) if i feel that the dancefloor isn't going to die because of it. played "u got the look" a week ago (just cuz i felt like hearing it) and strangely enough, got the dancefloor started. didn't think it would do it!

If you are going to clubs where the crowd is 21-28 then problably no. But most of the clubs I go to and the ones I spin at cater to 30+ crowds. We play a mix of new shit and old. Prince gets played in those a lot. I even had folks jammin to 1+1+1=3 two years ago when it came out. People don't normally like to dance to shit they don't know but a good dee jay knows how to get around this. The secret with 1+1+1 is mix it into Erotic City. The just kep on dancing until the realize it's a different song. By that time they figure "This shit is funky so what the hell"
