A PLACE IN HEAVEN

this is a splendid, wonderful song.

tell us all about it somebody...
All those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand...

What do you want to hear?

That it is a beautiful lesson in life, brought in a way we hardly ever hear these days?
By any artist?

Intended for the Dream Factory project, this song is a lovely, melodic pop tune somewhat in the style of "Starfish And Coffee." Prince sings in his falsetto voice over a sparse piano backing and a light drum machine beat. The second version has Lisa singing lead. The song concerns the importance of maintaining a positive outlook and making the most of the life we have (recalling the theme of "Pop Life").

i thought it was a bit slower and less upbeat than starfish and coffee. it must be the best thing i've heard for a long long time...

Great melody.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I have a version with Prince singing that fades out from Movie Star. Its a good transition, its a shame he never thought to use it with movie star on Crystal Ball.

As for the song, just another in a long line of brilliant Prince songs that needs to be released.

There must be children in Heaven,

Ones who know nothing come late,

There are leaders of all colours,

I'd feel safer with them in control,

Three year olds in control.

In reality, the 1st version was the one with Lisa on vocals. Going into the studio Lisa had no idea that Prince was going to have her sing the lead. After Wendy & Lisa left, Prince re-recorded it with his vocals...
"So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

I always thought the lyric was "ones who know
nothing of hate"

Great song, one of my faves by the man.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.
