I THINK PRINCE has Lost his Wild Side now >> Remember title like >> Controversy, Party up , Head , Do me baby , Darling Nikky, When doves cry , Temptation , CindyC , And On ANd on...
NO MORE PURE WILD ELECTRO-PUNK/FUNK...as in the 80's >>> JEOVAH RELIGION MADE PRINCE A DIFFERENT PERSON!!!
In a kind of way is sad!

Like this thread.

Of course he is not the same man as in the 80's PLEASE. He'd be like Michael Jackson.

I like the journey Prince has taken over the years. I do not agree with lots of it, like you, but he is still one of the most versatile artists out there.

So versatile, most can't keep up. That is okay though. I am grateful for the music he made that I do like and hope he's happy doing what he does.

I hear you Slimongi, however please remember that Prince is approaching his 45th birthday. It's no longer credible that he is singing about dirty wild sex, and I for one, don't really want to hear it anymore.

I loved that stage in his career - but that is all it was - a stage.

Some of his lyrics now are just as controversial however not quite as blatant, just as long as he stays true to himself and challenges what he hears and believes in, I'll be happy.

Yes, fully agree to that.

I really hope Prince continues to get older with suitable music. That current Jazz attitude fits very well.

You cannot expect him to play the same old 80'ies electro funk over and over.

Well, Purple Prince is not totally gone.

There's still a little bit of PRINCE inside Mr. P.R. Nelson...

Yeah, but his lyrics certainly aren't improving with age... indeed, they seem more childish now then even a mere 5-7 years ago... tsk tsk

Although I really like his jazzy stuff I would love him to make a 80's electrofunk album!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

We need a big red shoe emoticon to use in place of the word "Larry". With some stink comin' off it...

well he is getting up there in age and who wants to listen to a dirty old man sounds kinda creepy...i think he's trying to age gracefully musically and spiritually...do you want to see him in concert at 65 singing head and his dentures fall out in the middle of the chorus?

Come on, now . . .

Even though I am not feelin' this new stuff, I agree that had he stayed in that vein forever he'd have flamed out long ago. All the stuff you refer to is within a seven-year period of his career, and even during that period the themes of his music had evolved. I like his new sound, I just don't like his new vibe.

DIAMONDGEEZA

its obvious that prince got sick of the whole purple rain thing.all artists have one song that people always link them too no matter what and im sure he must of got sick with all these purple references over the years.Only real fans will acknowledge the fact that there was more too him than just that one track.

The great Prince is dead, now we just have a boring old man who once had a great career.

Hi slimongi! I doubt it, remember he wrote that the Purple Banana is to be searched for until we are put in a truck. I don't think he's in a truck, but what do I know... biggrin

How many times does this kind of question need to be asked?

If you don't like what he's doing now, don't buy it. Listen to Controversy instead. It's a little to late for Ronnie to talk to Russia, but I suppose Annie Christian is still relevant.
