The small sect of Prince fans that always talk about God in every sentence

Belief is a wonderful thing, but their connnection of Prince to God is a little disturbing.

Do you think other fan-bases experience this?

Obviously Michael Jackson fans can be quite "out there" and Madonna fans are furiously defensive of her, but does any other fan base have a sector that relates their favourite artist to God in such a way?

Just saying what they believe their hero wants to hear. Society generally has a reliance on religion but it increases within the fanbase of an openly religious artist is all.

Not in most of Europe. It staggers me (and many people I know) how often you see US acts thanking god either on album covers or at awards ceremonies.

Most european acts wouldn't dream of it, because religion is such a total irrelevance to most of us.

Well the USA was colonised by the most dogmatic protestants Britain had to offer. They wanted their own place to practice worship away from the casual heathens and catholics and of course that shows through right to the modern day with a President who can't divorce his raw faith from politics.

You are right that in the UK (ironically the source of protestantism and the Church Of England) there is now a casual regard for religion in general. That said where do you get married? Baptised/christened? Where are you buried and where is the funeral held? What type of songs did you have to sing in school assemblies and church visits? What were you taught as fact in RE classes?

In Europe religion may take a backseat yet it remains a constant in all our lives...

Country singers thank Jesus, specifically.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Anxiety

It's kinda like how fans on Bowie sites always use the word ART in every sentence...but somehow it doesn't seem like overkill...

but what I hate is how people who don't believe in God has this snoby attitude against people who choose to believe, act as if they found some eternal truth and look down on all the people who do believe as if they're some crazy goons... can't we all just have our own beliefs and be happy with that, damn lol

It works both ways - I personally dont like people trying 2 make me 'see the light'. If that light is there, Ill see it in my own time, and of my own valition. I dont need a Happy Clapper 2 point the way 4 me:
I can see just fine.

It is wrong for any one of any religious belief to try and jam their views down people's thoats. However, it is just as wrong for non-believers to get a offended at their mere mention of religion. If I say have a Blessed day and a non-beliver freaks out I automatically think that person is a goof ball because they are over-reacting. Just like a lot of people on this message board over-react to the JW thing.
