That part of the song was about him and Carmen's relationship. He was the "King looking for the ladder" and she was, of course, the "subject named Elektra". The scary thing is that he sang about their relationship years before it ever happened. Maybe Prince is God? | |

called electra, thats where freud uses the term electra, as electra had some weird psychological lusting from her father who was killed by her mother. she was jealous of the new father figure etc. its weird. anyway, oedipus comes from the play of the same name about a man who unwittingly marries his mother and has kids with them. so really freud just used the names to help explain his theory i think | |
