With that opening statement of "The RAINBOW CHILDREN", PRINCE shows an incredible statement of HOPE and POSITIVITY towards something HIGHER. That in itself is affirmation that PRINCE is GIVING us something much more POSITIVE and PROFOUND than "LOVESEXY".

YES, "LOVESEXY" is fantastic, a wonderful album of music and spiritual vibe that some call "not TOO Preachy". It seems 2 be the "trend" album 4 some on "the elite PRINCE BEST album bandwagon".

Hmmm, "not TOO Preachy"..."GOD is LOVE, LOVE is GOD, GIRLS and BOYS LOVE GOD ABOVE" is something that SOME might find "preachy" if not insulting especially if one does not believe in GOD.

"Don't LET NOBODY BRING U Down, Accurate knowledgs of CHRIST and the FATHER will bring the EVERLASTIN NOW - Join the party, Make a sound, SHARE the TRUTH, PREACH the Good NEWS Don't LET Nobody Bring U Down, The EVERLASTING NOW!"

Now how can PRINCE get MORE POSITIVE and UPLIFTING than that? WOW! WHAT JOY and HOPE 4 all!

Do u want 2 feel good? "EYE KNOW"? YES it's GREAT!

But Listen 2 "EVERYWHERE", "The WORK" and "The EVERLASTING NOW". MAN! I don't know about u but, these 3 songs alone, musiclly, bring my spirits UP HIGHER when I am down. Lyrica and music composition that captures the heart and soul to only fill it with WONDERFUL feelings of warmth and joy.

"RISE! RISE Rainbow CHILDREN RISE" during the climax of the title track echos so much LIFE and LOVE.

I could go ON and On and On about this MAGICAL album but, I am sure I will already be crucified by some 4 not only my LOVE 4 this album but also 4 a long post...

I love the Rainbow Children, but I'm not sure I agree with you as to why, Jonathan. (though, you don't actually meet the statement of the title of your thread - I can see lots of quotes, but nothing to substantiate WHY this album is incredible).

Do you realise just how derogatory that statement is? And on a thread about positivity too!!! It is also an ill-informed opinion. I think most people like Lovesexy, because they like Lovesexy, NOT becase everyone else does - how shallow. Well, I know which one I find more "offensive"! "God is love.." is quite gentle and simplistic and could be applied to many religions. I don't beleive in God, but neither do I find it insulting. However, "accurate knowledge" is a DIRECT reference to the JW faith and is therefore (again!) exclusive. It also gives direct instructions on what you should be doing - preaching, spreading good news etc. Hence, whilst I'm not offended personally, when asked which on e would be moreso, it is the quote from TRC.



That is only true for people who believe in the JW faith - so it is certainly not for all.



Cool - that's your opinon. Mine is that "Eye Know" had one foot planted in sprituality and one foot firmly planted in realism and events that meand something to us "everyday people" (the references to crack, alcohol, peer pressure etc) whereas the 3 tunes you mention all have BOTH feet firmly planted in the JW philosophy - ain't no room to disagree, you know?



Again, this is a reference to the JW conquering all others etc etc. I don't think the supremacy of one religious group over another (or the heathens) is something to be celebrated!!

I totally disagree with your statement. The phrase "accurate understanding of God and his law" leaves no room for people who:
1) don't believe in the God of the Bible.
2) believe in God, but, according to Prince's lines on this record , don't have an "accurate" undertsanding of Him and his law.
3) don't want to go out on some ambiguous mission of "building a new nation".

Lovesexy CELEBRATES God/Love. It does not dictate, like TRC. That in itself is a much more profound message than what Prince leaves his listeners with on TRC, "coming togteher as one, BUT only "in the name of the father and the son". No including spirit, but an excluding.



It is not about being "preachy". It is about including or excluding, about celebrating, or dictating.



What is the reason for all those caps? What is really positive about that message? The fact is that he excludes Christians who also beleive in the Holy Spirit. These people don't have "accurate knowledge". The fact is that he implies that the truth is that there is no holy spirit.


Great for you and I agree with Everywhere. That is a very good song and vbery upliofting, but... The work??? No way. The work is filled with bitterness against "the media"and all the others Prince has a problem with and with religious dogma, that only JW's truly undertsand. So much for uplifting, positive messages.


Here is your insecurity showing that you don't TRUST your fellow human being. You think this place is filled with haters that will slam you because you love TRC. Such little faith...


No what does that mean?

I cannot say it better than Abrazo has on this thread or one of the other TRC threads. TRC is an incredible and positive album to those who think like Prince. It is also a bit contradictory. One song he is saying how we should come together as one, another song he is reminding us that we are either this or that. While Lovesexy made me feel like I was included, I felt excluded with TRC.
