JAMIE STARR AND THE STARR CO....... Before there was Paisley Park and NPG RECORDS there was THE STARR CO. I always loved this undercover character JAMIE STARR who had no relation to Ringo but backed (a girl group, and boy group) THE TIME & Vanity 6 which later became Appolonia 6 and produced Sheila E.'s first album. Talk about a creative genius. Anybody else like these days?? Can somebody else list all the names he used to record for other artists besides Jamie Starr? NOTE: Some of my friends on the org. tell me they never knew some of these things about P so that is why I created this thread. -------------------------------------------------

Me too, made it all mysterious for me the first time I saw that on albums. ...Talk about a creative genius. Anybody else like these days?? Yeah, I wonder if in Uptown magazine or any of the books they ever covered the story behind the Starr Company? Why did Prince name himself like that? I wonder? Can somebody else list all the names he used to record for other artists besides Jamie Starr? NOTE: Some of my friends on the org. tell me they never knew some of these things about P so that is why I created this thread. Hmmm, really, there's some that never knew of this stuff?! Well, I can just recommend them Uptown magazine, collecting all the old records so you can experience them as works of art, and yeah, picking up those Prince books by Per Nilson. Cool that your schooling the newbies!

Yeah, I trip when some of em tell me they have never heard the Times albums...if they only knew how much Prince has really achieved... -------------------------------------------------

I'm pretty sure he also used Christopher Tracey as a pseudonym, quite possibly for Manic Monday. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

oh yeah!!! or was it just Christopher? Yep, Prince used Christopher TRACY, without the e. It's in the writting credits on the Manic Monday single and on The Bangles album in 1985 when Prince was filming Under The Cherry Moon. When I first saw that I was like "whaaa?" Then the movie came out, Under The Cherry Moon and I was like "ooohh."
