Jay Z (HOVA) hooks up with Prince (jeHOVAh) The Question is WHY?
Not that I got anything major against Jay Z, but for years Prince has been knocking back the hip hop community on samples, appearances, etc, etc, So why Jay Z? Common I can understand. I thought though that Prince would gravitate more towards Jay Z's nemesis, NAS. Not that I think NAS is the greatest out there either, just listening to Nas' "I CAN", it seems a positive song that Prince would support from the hip hoppers (seeing that was the excuse for the sample knockbacks). ..and why is Jay calling the CD "The Black Album"? Homage to Prince? or just going back to his roots? Is Jay gonna put the HOVA into jaHOVAh? Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

Last I heard, he'd asked Prince but got a knock-back. And the news item itself, JayZ says "we'll probably do a song" and he seems to be basing this on the fact the Prince cleared a sample for him.
I can't see this happening myself, but stranger things have happened. ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Well, I was reading a Prince article that is dated back to January 1997. He never really said that he had anything against hip-hop. He said that he wasn't for the negativity. And since I just happen to have the article with me, I'll quote him. He says,"There's no closure. There's negativity and then it ends with a gunshot. But it is their experience. I'm a big supporter of hip-hop, but not the negativity. when hip-hop artists sample my music, they must sample something positive. Negativity is not the spirit of emancipation."
That was in Ebony magazine. If you're wondering why I have it right beside me, it's because I used it for my High School Senior Project. It was on interracial relationships and the children they produce.

I never really thought much of JayZ till I saw a (60 minutes?) show on him. He can totally freestyle an entire track from start to finish in perhaps less time than Prince. Considering that Prince has been known to knock out tracks spontaneously as well, they at least have that much in common.
I don't really care for JayZs music, but if he's looking to the masters (Prince) for inspiration, why complain? LOL
