this is maybe my favorite prince album...(there are like 3 that i tend to say are my favorite..so for the sake of this thread it will be 'controversy..')

i like the anger...i like the energy...it's very punk rock in spirit to me..and he was just @$$ out with this one...

it also seems to build on 'dirty mind' as an obvious progression, but not necessarily a logical one...

i love me some 'controversy..'

I think it's a good album-- essential even. Funky? not in the way I'm thinking of funk. It has more of that punk spirit somebody else referred to. Last night I was listening to it for the first time in a long time and I still can't get into it as much as I do other albums like 1999, Parade, TGE, The Truth, TRC, etc.

Yes, it's an all time classic...
