Does Purple Rain mean Life? What does Rain being Purple Symbolize? easy now... I always figured the purple rain was to do with the sky raining blood. The sky is blue and blood is red, mix blue and red and you get purple. It's kind of an armageddon thing. The purple sky is also mentioned in 1999, that's what I was listening to when I had my revelation. RIP  | |

A long time ago, when I was a little lad, I remember reading anything about prince in magazines. Once, and I don't remember the magazine, there was an interview with wendy and lisa where they explained that purple rain was a metaphor for a new beginning, purple symbolizing the color of dawn (beginning of day) and rain (a symbol of rain, cleansing and causing a new beginning). "It's time we all reach out 4 something new, that means u 2. U say u want a leader, but u can't seem 2 make up your mind. I think u better close it, and let me guide through it, through the Purple Rain." The song is about adversary and pain and still looking at the positive side of things towards a new beginning regardless of hwat is put before you. Walking alone in the dark, I see nothing u see
