regardless of what P has said about not singing on "we are the world" i think it was simply a statement about the hypocrisy of the whole event. here are all these famous people (who, by the way, practically all had new products out, or coming out, at the time) getting together in the name of charity. yet, they made sure they all got credit and they all had their names splashed all over the media. I think P comes from the school of thought that if you want to do something charitable...just do it. no spotlights, no notoriety, no credit, just pure charity. all of these so called "non-profit" festivals and records are a joke. you can bet your ass there is a profit...directly or indirectly. It just would have been more ballsy of Prince to acknowledge this and call them all out!

Ah, the lifetime achievement "hissy-fit".

That was embarrassing, no.. the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever seen him do. He looked like a complete idiot up there with the credits rolling, and all those stars rolling thier eyes and regretting that they were standing next to him. The cameramen doing the best they could to pan elsewhere but still capturing all the embarrassment.

I had never known him to be such a bitch, to accept an award and then ten minutes later be such a sour-puss about it. If he had "issues" with the ending, he could just return the award and say something about it like a man.

Not act like a demented little bitch.

QJ just went and stole the show!

Prince was on that Stage while the Other People were singing the Song&that says what about Him? if He didn't want the Attention then why was He standing all right there with Quincy Jones? when you want the Camera you always know where it is&where it isn't.

This is one of my Prince embarassing moments. My family was like "What's up with your boy?" Shit, I was with them on this one. If he wasn't gonna sing, he shouldn't have gotten his ass on the stage. I know some people think that shit with the lollipop was cute, but I thought that shit was tacky, whether he was just joking or not.
I agree!!

Me too nod

Kind of off track but one of the only other references I've seen from Quincy Jones about Prince was for a flyer for Tne Most Beautiful Girl in the World where he was quoted as saying that the song was 'as seductive as ever'. Q compliments P, showing obvious admiration. P has enough respect for Q to put on promo material.
