Pretty Brown Eyes... batting eyes

I had their first album. It was good. What did they put out after that? I didn't even know they were from Minne.

Yes Mint Condition has five albums they were released in:1991,1993,1996,hits album in 1998,and the latest album in 1999. They broke up recently. I think that Keri(one of the keyboard players) marrying Toni Braxton had something to do with the band splitting up. The lead singer Stokley intends on doing some solo projects-hopefully in the near future.
Just in case you haven't noticed, I'm the biggest Mint Condition fan there is. And I can tell a lot from their first album Meant to be Mint in 1991 that they were heavilly influenced by Prince and all the other Minneapolis bands.

I'm a Big Mint fan as well.Stokley&two Other Members formed a Jazz Trio&Toured a Year ago.last I heard they are getting another deal.they did some Gigs with Alicia Keys.Keri Lewis&Toni Braxton now have two Children.they were influenced by the whole Minneapolis Sound as well as other acts.they were on Jimmy Jam&Terry Lewis's Perspective label&also did stuff for acts on the roster.Stokley got alot of side work.they were very vocal about the Politics within the Business as well.I've followed them as well for a really long time.in terms of Funk back to this thread:James Brown,George Clinton,Sly&The Family Stone,Earth Wind&Fire,Cameo,Kool&The gang 69-76,Herbie Hancock,Rick James&Crew,Roger&Zapp,Ohio Players, etc.. Funk rule my picks before Minneapolis.I dig Prince's Hybrid Sound more than Him straight out Funk Takes.

nodI second mistermaxx and supermodel...Stokely has unbelievable vocals. The band along with his voice remind me of the type of "cosmic" connection that can be formed within a musical group. It reminds me of the perfect fusion you get with, say, Sade and Sweetback(her band). It's truly beautiful when several people can come together and make wonderful music. That type of connection musically is very hard to come by, IMO...(yeah, I went off on a tangent)

Back on track:
Minneapolis brangs the funk!!! fro

Sorry for jumping back onto Mint Condition, but if any of you get any new info on them, please be sure to post it. They are one of my favorite acts. I'm beginning to take this personal when my favorite groups keep breaking up...The Time, Toni, Tony, Tone, The Fugees, Mint. It must be a bitch keeping great musicians together for an extended period of time. Again, keep me posted on Mint Condition. Thanx.
