Was watching some old videos taped off of MTV a little while ago and came across a clip from the Under The Cherry Moon movie premiere party.

Prince strolls past the crowd, who had gathered around actress Kristin Scott Thomas as she was being interviewed by well-known '80's MTV VJ, Martha (can't-remember-her-last-name).

He looks immaculate in a white double-breasted suit.

Anyhow, he swings his arm around one woman's neck (apparently the lady who won a competition for UTCM to be premiered in her home city!), and then Martha asks,

"So, Prince, how are you feeling tonite?"

Prince replies in typical Princely style,

"I feel with my hands, Martha."

8) ...indulge me.

I remember watching MTV ALL DAY LONG to try and win that contest -- it was the same day that "Papa Don't Preach" premiered and it played over and over and over.

Alas, I didn't win, but the Sheridan, WY location of the winner is the reason Prince played a show in Denver on July 3, and I got to go to my first Prince concert. VIVA LA REVOLUTION!

My mom and her boyfriend were BOTH calling MTV all day trying to get me to win that contest...and I was a 15 year old BOY.

I still think it woulda been hot if I'd won the date with Prince, ha ha ha...

I'll tell you what I remember. I rmeber that I almost forgot to watch it but my cousin managed to remind me at the last minute.

When Prince got off the plane at the airport he spoke to the reporter for about 2 seconds before running over to the fence and threw his leather jacket over into the crowd.

Jerome was at the party co-hosting with the Mtv vj(s). Everyone was wondering if he was going to perform and at the end he finally did.

I still have the People magazine with the cover that read "Would You Let Prince Date Your Daughter?".

I loved the yellow suit he was wearing that night (yellow's a happenin' color, if you're a banana ).

It was cool!

I remember watching that UTCM coverage on MTV and my mom cursing the winner and saying "THAT SHOULDA BEEN YOU!!!" and even though I thought it was kinda creepy that my mom was bitter about my not winning a date with a guy on national television, I of course went right along and agreed with her the whole time, ha!

That Lisa Barber WAS a cow, with those big ol' mall bangs.

...that's it, i'm gonna turn off my pooter now and watch the damn premiere party...

I have a copy and could've sworn the suit he wore was white.When he got off the plane, he wore a dark suit.When he picked up the contest winner it was that 2 piece outfit from the Mountains video.And a white suit for the mini-concert.

I want to know why he made Lisa Barber give him her necklace at one point.

I'm not sure what he was wearing when he arrived at the airport except for the leather jacket but I'm almost certain that at some point during the party he was wearing the yellow suite with the white shirt. I'll have to look tonight when I get home to see what photos I had cut out of magazines.

Prince was sure in a good mood that night. Strange.

Barber prolly pawned that necklace to get a few bottles of Boones Farm strawberry wine.

I saw it for first time yesterday, I wasn't impressed with the presentation or even the performances really. The notable thing was how happy Prince seemed, really hopeful for UTCM being a success I guess or either really likes the company of rednecks.

OK I'm remembering some more now, not necesaarily about what he's wearing or when, but some minor details.

When he got off the plane one of the then vjs asked what he thought about Sheridan and he replied "it's very purple". She asked him another question which he didn't hear and when she started to repeat it he said "excuse me" and ran off toward the fence where he took off his coat and threw it over to the crowd on the other side.

As far as the yellow suit goes I remember him wearing it when he first showed up. I remember because it was the first time I ever saw him wearing yellow and I was very surprised. I was used to purple and darker colors with the exception of the 'sky' jumpsuit he wore in the "Raspberry Beret" video. I also remember thinking how good the yellow suit looked with the white shirt. It was about a week or so later that he was on the cover of People magazine wearing it again. Sorry to be so anal about it but, after all, I am a Prince fan.
