I've read the original script to the movie purple rain and I swear some of the best scenes of the movie where edited. Now that I watched the movie I feel as if half of the story is missing. For instances I never noticed Appolonia was admiring a wedding dress until after the fact I read the script, (originanlly Vanity playing the prt) and you know the scene where Prince is looking out into the lake and imagines him and appolonia making love, well in the script there's a whole scene to it and while they make love it begins to rain, which I thought maybe that's why they changed the title 2 purple rain, cuz the orginal script was called dreams... Had the most famous prt I've would've like to see in the movie was when Prince saw his mother crying after being beaten by her husband, he shares a sentinmental momment with his mother and she gives Prince the big hoop ear ring he later on gives to Appolonia in the movie, man this would've been a great scene to see and who could forget the infamous rape scene ... I recomend any fan to read the whole script so you can get the whole story it's alot missing that was not in film, but I guess it's all good though cuz the it still made it 2 number 1 :Smile:

That scene with his mother giving him the hoop earring was actually filmed, and I remember seeing it too. I started a thread about this topic yesterday but nobody seemed to remember it.

And I remember seeing the scene where Prince goes into a wild hillbilly rage with Kim Basinger and her boyfriend, and that poor little girl is hiding under the couch...

...oops, wrong Purple Rain. My bad.

I, for one, would LOVE to see the fight scene with Prince and one of the memeber of The Time...it was jellybean, right?




I like the original script better too, mainly for one reason: BROWNMARK ACTUALLY HAD LINES!!!

if you really want to see bits and pieces of some of these scenes then get the DVD. Check the trailer, it has some of the deleted scenes in it if you pay attention.

Yes, in the trailer they show Prince and Ap. making love in a barn while it's raining. They also show Morris and Ap. running across P's font law ( I think), looks like they are drunk and maybe spying on Prince or his family. Many other scenes were probably deleted.

Bummer.

There's also a scene where Prince punches out Jellybean.Back in the summer of 84,I remember seeing that scene in the commercial for the film.
