How would Prince's career have changed if the first post-Purple Rain single had been.... The Dance Electric?
Although Paisley Park/Raspberry Beret was a artistic statement, as the first singles from ATWIAD, had prince thrown down the funk, how would he have been viewed? in Mid 95, he could have given us The Dance Electric Mutiny Screams of Passion Empty Room Nothing Compares 2 U She's Always in my hair 100 MPH I would love to have seen a big budget, mini movie video for The Dance Electric, with all the revolution. A dark moody statement, right on the back of the We are the World project, and world poverty! Do you think Raspberry Beret/Paisley Park was the right move? .

the Coolness of Contradictation on Prince's Part.He could have put out anything in 85&He knew it.but He also wanted a Accessible Song to Generate some Sales&"Raspberry beret" wasn't a Accident."Dance Electric" would have been a Minor Hit at best.catchy but about as much Commerical Life as "Hello". mistermaxxx

Do you think Raspberry Beret/Paisley Park was the right move? The album was the right move. God, I love "Dance Electric" and haven't heard it in ages. It wouldn't have climbed the pop charts the way "Raspberry Beret" did, but there's a good chance it would have been bigger on dance and r&b charts. I don't think the movie thing would have been a good idea at all. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

the video reminds me of a cross between "mad max" and kinna-sorta "they shoot horses, don't they?"

The first Purple Rain sucked, I think it would've flopped big time , so maybe Vanity walking off the set was a good decision all after all I enjoy the Appolonia 6 LP way better then I did the Vanity 6 LP ...
