Do you think Prince is maybe in the top 10 most recognized names in western culture?

According to DumbFacts.com, the 3 biggest were Jesus Christ, Richard Nixon, and Elvis Presley. It's easy to say that Michael Jackson is probably the 5th biggest, so maybe Prince is the 5th or 6th.

What do you think?

EDIT: I made a mistake, sorry smile

But that's only three.

I point this out only because I want to know who the one you left out might be...

(And I betcha anything that if you did a survey of high schoolers, the percentage of them who know who Nixon was would be in the single digits.)

I don't think Prince is even close. I doubt he'd be top 20 or perhaps even top 50. And I think Muhammad Ali would be before Michael Jackson. For that matter, I think Michael Jordan would give Michael Jackson a run for his money in that category.

Maybe he'd be in the low teens. The Beatles, Michael Jackson,Michael Jordan,Oprah, and Ali would rank higher.Possibly Madonna as well. But Prince could probably make it high on the list.

I know lots of people who never heard of Prince. I i know tons of people that can't name one song of him. Even Purple Rain.
Maybe it's my age, 20. Or my place, Brazil.

But he is not pop here.

Western culture???

This dumbfact is actually 'The three best-known western names in China: Jesus Christ, Richard Nixon, and Elvis Presley.' - at least quote the website correctly, even if it is, as the website admits, a piece of knowledge most people couldn't care less about.

Richard Nixon???

Jesus, he was just an American president with bad luck. That should not be enough for him to make it to Top 3. The list must have been made by Americans... smile

after edit

well, I just read it was for most popular people in China... then it's even stranger, unless they use the example of Richard Nixon is a sign of corrupted ways in democratic countries... lol
