I don't know when I first heard Prince I was probably very little. However the first time I became hooked, totally and completely head over heals committed to his music and performances was only a couple of years ago when I caught his hit and run tour. It was one of the only times he ever came to Denver but since then I've been bow

The first time i saw Prince was on a show called The Midnight Special. I was about 12 or 13. He was singing "I Wanna Be Your Lover". My sister, mom, & i watched in amusement. My friend & i would argue over who is better Prince or M.J. We use to listen to the Prince album all the time. The more i listened...the more i got into his music. When my sister brought his 1999 cassette...i played it so much the cassette snapped. music

I was on holiday in France with my boyfriend camping, I was 16. We had brought personal stereos each and he was bringing the tapes. I got there and soon realised he had only brought Prince music!!! I was disgusted but there was no tv so I started to listen to p.rain. I thought it was excellent!!! The Batman film was just out so he bought the tape of that as well & it was also excellent. Im no longer with him but I have to thank him for introducing me to Prince!!! As soon as I got home I bought everything I could & I've been obsessed ever since!!!

I was in a store buying a TV in November of 1984 and the opening scene of "Purple Rain" was on all the TV screens with "Let's Go Crazy" just blowing me away! I knew right there I had to see this guy in concert. Up until then I had heard his songs on the radio and thought he was kinda cute but had no idea what an awesome performer he was! (I missed seeing "Purple Rain" in the movie theater because my husband wouldn't let me go!) Sure enough, 3 months later I started a new job, met someone who had spare tickets to the "Purple Rain" Tour show at the Forum in Los Angeles! Once I saw him play live, I knew I was hooked for life, and I haven't looked back since! I've seen him perform 42 times so far! (Oh, and by the way, my husband and I are divorced now!)

First time I heard of Prince was when "Soft & Wet" made it to the top 10 on a local soul radio station's weekly count down. Didn't pay much attention to him until a year later when he appeared on American Bandstand. He did "I Wanna Be You Lover" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So bad" He damn near didn't talk at all when Dick Clark interviewed him. As weird as I thought he looked and acted there was something else that made me curious as to what this cat was about. I rode my bike to Kmart the next day and bought both "For You" and "Prince" Been a 20 year + fan from that point on.

Saw a promotional pic (y'all know the one: big afro, leather jacket, three chest hairs) of him in the back of Jet magazine. I thought he was so FOIN! However, I wasn't feelin' "Soft & Wet" at all! When the next album dropped, I wasn't feeling "I Wanna Be Your Lover" much either, but it grew on me. But, homey had me at "Sexy Dancer." And the rest is history.

Wow! I've been a fan for over a 1/4 of a century? omfg

My mom liked Prince, so I grew up listening to him... I think that there's no "first time" for me.

But there's a moment on my life that very related to a song... Purple Rain... That was the first song I danced with G.A.C... the man of my life and it was also the last son we ever heard toghether... I miss him sooo much...

Life and earth keep on turnning... I'll find him again someday and we'll be able to be toghether.

Peace.

I was 12 when i first noticed prince in the video for"U GOT THE LOOK" and it was actually Sheena Easton i had my eye on but as we all know Prince's music has a habit of popping up in your mind when you dont expect it too.My first album was the batman soundtrack a few years later and after Graffiti Bridge i have bought each release every year since.I thought he sounded very unique and that is what hooked me.He stood out musically from the crowd.
