We Can Funk!

Okay,I finally heard what I guess is the "original" version of this song, and I LOVE IT, BUT the GB version is still my favorite cause I NEED my:

I'm testing positive 4 the funk
I'd gladly pee in anybody's cup

AND

SEX between 2 people is alright
Falling in love in the world is what they got
Long as I'm not trying to hurt nobody
Just as long as its HOT

BABY wanna make love to u
2 times,maybe 3 yeah and if u want to go 4 or 5,baby that's alright with me

AND
I can be a girl or boy
I could be your toy

U got electric ass,baby
U got electric thighs
I can't wait no longer child
Its gettin stronger baby, open up your eyes

See this gold chain around my waist
I wanna give it to U,yeah
People tell me I got no taste ,etc.

AND
WE CAN FUNK IT OVER HERE
FUNKIN OVER THERE AIN'T SHIT
WE CAN FUNK IT OVER HERE
FUNKIN OVER THERE AIN'T SHIT
I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

I liked the cat & dog call/response chanting that was added in the movie at George's club.

The version on Graffiti Bridge is closer to the original version (uses some of the original tracks) than the remake done in '86 that has the slower more brooding feel...

according to the books!

I sooo love this track and was only just listening to it tonight

Much prefer the "Dream Factory" version with the organ solo towards the end... so seductive

Much love yes Pochacco

I had the brilliant slow grooving alternative version on cassette tape in the 80s, but it was noisy so I just tried to download a better sounding version from Kazaa. I found it, but with a new vocal that follows the same lines as the original, but without the conviction. The line 'I could teach you things about your fucking body baby, things you've never heard' censored. Prince makes a silly 'plopplop' sound where there should be 'fucking'.

What's going on here... Why does Prince want to mess with his legacy? Who is releasing these tracks?

This version should be renamed 'We Used To Be Able To Funk'.

Get 'The work' bootleg volumes.the original funkier version is on there. As with most bootlegs, if they're a bit hissy i usually remove the hiss and mess about with them in Cool Edit Pro til i get them sounding nice, then re-burn 'em.

Programmes are the only things worth getting off Kazaa/Kazaalite IMO.

'cept for porn.wink
