Prince should release new single w/out the name "PRINCE"
he should write and produce a new single w/out his name on the package...and have it remixed and shipped to radio.

Of Course the single will bare his name once its released...but have radio stations play it w/out giving out the name first...just get a feedback first.

Kinda like what they did with New Kids in the 90's when they came back w/ N.K.O.T.B!

Ppl had no clue who it was, thou they sounded familiar, but it was a hot song for them and ppl were so amazed when they found out "Dirty Dog" was by the New Kids...thou the album didnt reach the heights of success that they did w/ prior records...but its a great gimmick!

That would be a bad move. It would imply that his name is "poison." The implication would be that nobody would listen to the music if they knew it was Prince.

I don't think that's a bad idea. It's time for a new Prince song on the radio and if it comes without a name then hey that's what happens. And I think that nowadays the name Prince is poison because of what happened 10 years ago with the name change. But that's my opinion.

Who wants Prince to be on the radio? I certainly don't. The radio sucks ass except for the Jazz stations. I would much rather listen to my cd's than the crappy old radio.

Actually, I think it would be kind of a funky move. Other artists have done it and created quite a buzz. David Bowie once released some work under the psuedonym "Pallas Athene" with NO other credits on the packaging whatsoever. Although the sound was reminiscent of Bowie, it was experimental enough to catch a few ears. And once people caught on (though I'm not certain Bowie ever owned up to it), it sparked some new interest in his oddity.

I wouldn't bet his mind is on anything like this, but in my opinion, Prince could profit from a new spark of mystery. Enigma used to be part of his appeal, and now the public feels they know him too well and are no longer impressed.

As for radio, I agree its politics and sound generally suck (including -- maybe especially -- the popular jazz stations), but if and when a song is just absurdly funky, they'll honor it in many cases.
