Crystal Ball pt.2

If Prince was to release a follow-up to Crystal Ball, which vault tracks would you like to be included?

My choice (in no particular order) would be:

01. Wonderful Ass
02. All My Dreams
03. Databank
04. Schoolyard
05. Irresistable Bitch (1981 demo version)
06. In A Large Room With No Light
07. Can I Play With U
08. Moonbeam Levels
09. Lisa
10. Good Love
11. Extra Lovable
12. Allegiance
13. Get Blue
14. Beautiful Strange (long version)
15. Empty Room
16. So High

The rest of the known unreleased stuff is not worthy of release in my opinion. Even on the list I made above there are already some tracks of doubtfull quality.
So Prince, if you read this, release it, close your vault forever and get to work on new material! music
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

Why Good Love? It was already on the first one.

Yeah, I just checked that and you are right! It's just that I was quite disappointed with the first Crystal Ball edition and only liked and played the first disc. I always play a downloaded mp3 of Good Love, now I realise I already have it in perfect sound quality... lol

I had a thread like this last year sometime. I'll see if I can dig it up to find my list.

Good Love - the origina long version. The one on Crystal Ball 1 was edited. Can be found on the Bright Lights Big City album.

Crucial - originals BOTH looong versions!!! The one with Prince doin' the guitar solo (awesome) and the one Eric Leeds sax solo version (also awesome)!

Turn It Up!

Old Friends 4 Sale Original 1985 version then SEGUED into All My Dreams like on the first version of Parade, fabulous.

Heaven That strange but hypnotic Funk song from the 80's.

And no, don't mix 80's stuff with 90's stuff, at least keep them on separate discs.

Following the blueprint of the first Crystal Ball compilation, something like this:

Disc One:
God is Alive
Extraloveable
Slave 2 The System
Laurianne
Wonderful Ass
Love And Sex
Empty Room
Cosmic Day
Wally
Lust U Always

Disc Two:
Rebirth of the Flesh
The Voice Inside
Schoolyard
Witness 4 the Prosecution
The Line
Others Here with Us
In A Large Room With No Light
Purple Music
Goodman
Love or Money

Disc Three:
Adonis & Bathsheba
Moonbeam Levels
Letter 4 Miles
There is Lonely
I Wonder
Broken
2020
Stone
The Grand Progression
All My Dreams

Extra Discs (projects previously unavailable)

The Flesh
1. Junk Music
2. Up From Below
3. Y’all Want Some More?
4. A Couple Of Miles

First Avenue - June 7, 1984

1. 17 Days
2. Our Destiny/Roadhouse Garden
3. All Day All Night
4. Free
5. Noon Rendezvous
6. Erotic City
7. When Doves Cry (Happy Birthday)
8. Irresistible Bitch
9. Possessed

I know that this is eighties-centric but I think the fan-base has made it clear that this is the stuff they want from the vault. No remixes! Maybe you guys can help me with this one - I don't like "The Voice Inside" so I'd like to replace it with something that is a rocker and will fit in with the first four tracks on Disc Two. Suggestions?

You know you're right - I love that song. Replace "There is Lonely" with that.

Oh no. It's not circulating. Someone (T) has it but they won't let us all hear it. It's supposed to be a fast paced rocker (like Can't Stop...) featuring the Camille vocal.

"There Is Lonely" is on The Vault - Old friends 4 Sale"...
But anyway he should never ever release a shit compilation like "Crystal Ball" ever again...
It would be better if he'd release outtake albums with chronological tracklists...
For example an outtake disc with only songs from pre The Revolution period or SOTT/Lovesexy band period or NPG '95 period...
Or just outtakes chronologically that have no input by any other members just Prince alone...
And he shouldn't mess with them like he did with "Crucial"... He butchered a great guitar solo and killed the flow...
And IMO he should keep cheesy shit like "Adonis & Batsheeba" deep in the vault...

The best thing would be if he'd remaster all his albums and put an extra disc or two with B-sides, remixes and outtakes with them from that same period... A bit like Marvin Gaye's "Let's get It On" and "What's Going On" Deluxe edition sets...
And while he's at it put out a DVD with each album containing a killer show from that year...
But this all will never happen... And we'll probably just get another shitty "Crystal Ball" set with edited crap like a new version of "Moonbeam Levels" or a fucked up New World Translation version of for example amazing songs like "Go" or "Cosmic Day" or, dare I say it, the holy "American Jam"... The Rebels at their best...
Fuck it, this shit is depressing me...

No - Wally is a mournful ballad purpotedly written around the time Susannah Melvoin finally left Prince for good but I don't think even T has that one. You can listen to all these at the Library of Congress in Washington. They have a copy of all material copywritten by Prince whether it was released or not.

Tim D'Aquino. Lives near Miami, I believe. He was an employee at the NPG store in Minneapolis in the mid-90's. You might see him post on amp occasionally.

The original "Wally" doesn't exist anymore since he fucked it up and then erased it...
But that new version would be pretty cool to hear, but he'll probably never release it...

Right again. I don't know how I missed that "..Lonely" was on The Vault.., but replace it with "I Miss You" like I said. I must be slipping...
