Hi there people, I've just moved to France and have begun listening to Radio Nova - it seems they play the funkiest music - so last night (Tuesday 6th of May) I was listening to this show and the DJ had none other than fellow Brit Trevor Nelson as special guest (he hosts UK MTV's Late Lick, and does BBC soul/urban DJing).

Well, not only was it refreshing to hear English on the radio (I've only just started language courses!), but during one of Trevors compilations there was this remix of Cloreen. It had exactly the same distinctive bass/drums, and the voice, but the rythm was quite a bit faster and Prince (or someone else overdubbing) was doing a pretty different skit to what's on Crystal Ball. I can't remember what the 'lyrics' were (apart from "what time is it" being said quite a bit), but the whole thing was definitely different to the CB version.
Trevor claimed that the compilation was of unrelease, unsigned artists.

Any French friends out there hear this also?
Maybe there are alternative versions of Cloreen on bootleg, or maybe some ass whole has claimed it as there own!

That probably was the The Time B-side "Tricky" (I forget which song it was the B-side for). Anyway, that one uses the drum & bass from 'Cloreen Baconskin' with overdubs of some synths. plus some silly vox by Morris and Prince.

You mean they played this on the radio?

Yeah it was on Radio Nova (France), I'm in Montpellier so I dunno if it was a regional or national broadcast. Anyway, the CB version IS quite tedious, but theversion on the radion was much better - don't diss it till you hear it! I'll have to track down the Time B-side if that's what it is...

It was on the night of 6th May, but I guess it was during the 'live emission' window between 2200 and 2300 as I don't recognise the songs being played either side of that time frame... Oh well, Ill have to hunt the Bside anyway - Im shocked that I dont own already in fact. Tres funky.

I gotta say not only is Radio Nova very cool, the playlist search facility is also damn good.
