DIAMONDGEEZA

Most people under 20 dont really know much about prince and it doesnt seem to bother the teeny boppers that the manufactured garbage they listen to will be but a memory in five years with more trash to follow.Give me a listen of the Rainbow Children anyday instead of stuff like Justin Timberlakes"Justified" or Christina Aguilera's "stripped".Even the commercial prince was far better than what we have 2day.Can anyone actually think of a track produced this year that may stand the test of time like Purple rain has?.

I like Prince and I'm 13. A lot of kids at school have heard of the name and know that he's a musician but have never heard any Prince songs. Some have seen the Purple Rain movie. And a lot of them just think he's gay.

Well here's what y'all should try:

Just put on a Prince concert and you'll
see, most kids will start asking questions
about the music, really. Kids and teens
will appreciate it, even ask for a cd when
they hear the live sound.

I did this last weekend and my niece liked it,
she said she never heard something like this
before and now she wants a copy music

SWANG

My 14 year old step daughter went to see Prince in NYC in 2002. And the aftershow...hung out until Prince left the stage @ 4:15 AM...and went to school the next day and raved about to her friends. Comes to see my band (Days of Wild) in NYC all the time...stays until the show ends (@ 4:00 AM) and requests all the Prince jams!

BTW - she loves Stevie too!

Not all young folks listen to sh*t music. Some of them are smarter than you think! smile

I'm 33 and have been an advid follower of Prince since 1982.

Times change, musical styles change, new artists appear (although most are poor), we cant xpect Prince to stay at the top 4eva, for me as long as there's new material i'm happy.

Well, I'm 17. I didn't know that there were so many young people who belonged to Prince.org. I am a huge Prince fan. But I have to admit that the idea of anyone being a Prince fan @ the age of 4 kinda scares me. I've always admired him, but I just calling myself a fan after I saw Purple Rain for the first time. I love everything about him. A lot of my friends criticize me or ask me how I can find a girly guy so attractive. His music is what makes him attractive. Prince is a full package. It's not everyday that you run across a music artist who has released enough songs to become a musical genre rather than to be a part of one.
I'm used to getting teased for being a Prince fan, but it's only from immature teenagers that think Nelly has all the answers. Don't get me wrong, I like Nelly. But I believe in keeping an open mind and Prince is the MAN

I've been a Prince fan since 1979 with "I Wanna Be Your Lover". I'm 32 and all the kids I talk to, being a teacher, all think that Prince is gay and completely weird. They have no idea of the musical history that Prince brings to music they listen to today, most of which is shit. Without Prince, they wouldn't have some of the artist they have today and they surely wouldn't have beats to steal from ala James Brown and Funkadelic. Prince will go down in music history as one of the greats, but with the younger audience today, it would take a kid who has a great love and appreciation of music as well as a history of music to find Prince and know the greatness of his music. Without my father I would have never known about Carlos Santana, James Brown and other greats. Listening to Prince, especially during 1985/86 when he was doing concerts rocking like James Brown really got me into James Brown's music. I even went to James in concert in 1986 and thought "Damn, so this is where Prince got his style." I let some of my students listen to some of my Prince and they are blown away when they hear some of the songs especially the ones where the beat been used in some rap!! They young'ens just need someone to pull the blinders of hip-hop and bubble gum music off their eyes and show them what a real musician can do!!

I do this with my friends. When Alicia Key's HCUDCMA came out I made them listen to the original so they could see how she totally ripped it off. When Bonnie and Clyde '03 came out I made them listen to "If I was Your Girlfriend" so they could hear Beyonce trying to bite P's style. I also had them listen to Vanity 6's "Nasty Girl" so they could hear where Britney's 'Slave 4 U' originated. Everytime they're blown away but they still resist Prince's music. Part of this is his image , I think. They don't think it's cool to listen to Prince and they poke fun at me sometimes. poke shrug
