1999 is a Funk Masterpiece! It woke the public up to Prince. This lp didn't sound like anything heard before then or now.

you know what's funny? i just put on rainbow children for the first time in awhile...and damn if doesn't sound better than ever. All the prosyletizing can't hold a candle to the music, which I truly think is some of his best ever. It's such a brillant recap of all this strengths over the years...so diverse...so free, musically at least. The only weak points for me are last december and that wedding crap, and last december has its moments

I just don't get people liking Gold Experience.
Its lame in every way. Songwriting, especially producing.
There are couple of good songs (shhh, endorphinemachine) but the sound and the whole thing just dont work.
It sounds fake and i strongly dislike it.
I even prefer prince to it.

I didnt hate Gold this much at first, but after hearing some of the demo versions of the songs, i just cant help but wonder how he managed to overdo the whole package.
