Richard Thompson does Kiss!!! I did not know whether to put this in Prince Music & More or other artists but anyway it is a Prince song!!!
Richard Thompson, a brilliant folk/rock musician who has been around for more than 25 years and is also a bloody brilliant guitar player has just released a version of Prince's Kiss! Richard has a new CD out called the Old Kit Bag and as a bonus there is a second CD with some extras and one of them is Kiss! To see Amazons listing just go to Amazon.com and look for old kit bag. This is actually part of a project called "1'000 Years of Modern Music" that Richard is releasing a whole CD of but just selling through his website and at shows. Unfortunatly when I saw him at First Ave two weeks ago it was not ready yet. Go here for more info: http://www.richardthompso...asp?id=117 and here is what he says about the song: Kiss Strategically sung about an octave lower than Prince, one of the best pop songs of the 80s, by one of the best artists. So enjoy if you want! I don't have my CD yet but will report when I do! Richard is an AMAZING guitar player!! He and Prince are actually my two favorites of all time!!! Ahhh, from Fairport Convention, to Richard and Linda Thompson, to solo artiste...had no idea Richard would dig this particular song. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Yeah, I just got the new Richard Thompson this past weekend w/ the bonus ep, after seeing him in concert Friday night. Richard is the man for sure! His version of "Kiss" is pretty good, though with the inclusion of the Britney Spears cover it is hard to see this as an endorsement of the song. It is after all from a series of concerts detailing 1000 years of POPULAR music. On a side note, the ep is more of a teaser than a bonus since these two tunes will be on the "1000 Nights..." cd. There is another limited edition ep though with two tracks from these shows which will not be on the release. Surprising to see Richard Thompson mentioned on a Prince forum, guess there are some ok folks here!

from his comments it seems Richard does really like this song. I have never seen him do "Kiss" live but I did see him do "Oooops..." about a year ago and he did kind of make fun of it then. His comments from the website about "Ooops" are:
Where's the audience on the singalong? Taken out of context, this is a pretty nice song.

Yeah, sorry, I missed the comments earlier. I've never seen him do either song. His cover this past weekend was an Italian tune from the 16th century! It's one of the bonus tracks and will be on the "1000 Nights..." disc. It is great! ec No Sonny T?
