What do the lyrics to the song "Seven" mean?i keep hearing diffrent theorys, from the seven where the members of the Warner Board that he hated, and seven drug dealers and seven elements,what do they mean?

If I am not mistaken it is referring to the

seven deadly sins...

I directly references some stuff in the Bible, but I can't remember what parts exactly.

I remember reading it on AMP years and years ago and reaching for the closest Bible to see if it was correct - which it was.

Thanx luv4thepurple1 for listing the 7 deadly sins, its clarified some things up for me, I forgot sloth was one of them (I'll have 2 not laze about so much!) + I used to think lust, gluttony & greed as the same thing. They are similar but also very different.

In my opinion, the song "7" not only refer 2 the 7 deadly sins but also "REVELATIONS". It alludes 2 what's 2 come.

There are numeric patterns throughout the Bible, and seven was a highly favored number among students of ancient Jewish mysticism and its related numerology (gematria). Particularly in Revelations, there are recurring patterns of seven: seven letters written by John the Apostle to the seven Asian churchs; a book of seven seals that, when broken, herald the horsemen of the apocalypse and end-time plagues on the earth; seven angelic trumpets and seven vials of God's wrath that, when blown and emptied onto the earth, pretty much complete God's current covenant, etc.

I'm not certain if Prince is addressing any one of the many Biblical groups of "seven" in his song, but this pattern apparently was of some influence. (It seems really likely he could have been singing about the seven deadly sins, which, incidentally, aren't listed in the Bible, but rather handed down from early Christian doctrine.)

"7" was one of his best in the 90's..

its one of the only songs of his in the 90s that all my friends can sing to when they hear it..
