Actually that is true. I was thinking of signing up until I wandered in with a friend and read two or three of the topics in the forums. I will never be a member as the threads almost made me sick.

y'see, 77...c'mere, ya betta sit down...chair

here on the org, we're a lot more outspoken about stuff. it's no fun 2 nod all of our heads in unison at everything prince has said/done. we're a bit different over in these parts.

The thread that convinced me that I couldn't join was a thread about the severe censorship on the site and people were actually saying that it was a good idea.

I really don't like people who think that everything Prince says is the gospel and that site is full of them.

I am not really intrerested in paying money to chat or to post on forums that are full of people who do not have a mind of their own.

I think that what some refer to as "hate" seems to be that they just can't handle everyday "controversy"! You can't insulate yourself from conflict and friction. Iron sharpens iron.
And having said that, I'd like to say that I ain't no "fam" whatever that means. If it means I'm supposed to walk around with my head in "la la" land, like a non-thinking Stepford Wife, never making any waves, being agreeable and "positive" about everything, then I want nothing to do with it. That reminds me of brainwashing.
Now I would like to say something "nice" about Prince, or at least his music...
I was watching the documentary, Standing in the Shadows of Motown, about the musicians(The Funk Brothers) behind all the hit records of Motown. One fellow said that Motown helped to bring soul music to America and that soul music gives hope.
You know, that's what I like about Prince's music, when you look at his whole body of work. Sure, he's explored just about every facet of the human condition-good and bad, so to speak- but in the end, Prince's music gives hope. That's why I like his works better than the current rap music. The rap music seems to offer too much anger and despair, a murderous spirit and true hatred, bitterness, and a pulling downward.
Prince's music has given me hope. A look upward. Something to celebrate.

I would agree with you there, mistermcgee. I listen to most of today's music, contrast it to stuff from the 70's and even the 80's and wonder "what happened to fun?" What happened to music that just made you feel good and wanna dance instead of music that makes you bitter, angry and depressed and wanna go slap somebody?
I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

Well, a lot of 'fams' would answe those questions with "he grew up". Which to a certain extent is true, but...nevermind, i don't wanna get flamed

I think part of the problem is in self-censorship. Think about it. On the .org, folks are always speculating about whether or not Prince actually comes here and reads stuff that's posted, but we have no definitive proof if he does or not. When you post something here, you don't feel like P is reading over your shoulder.

At NPGMC, there's a much higher probability that he (or at least those in his employ) will read what you write, so people take a more low-key, approach, either from fear of being "banished" or in hopes of some sort of positive feedback from Prince, or simply out of respect for the man's "house".

All I know is you will never see a thread there speculating on his past loves, criticizing his work or discussing the size of his penis.

My qusetion is this: which is worse? Those mentioned threads or one that agree with every single thing Prince does in fear of Prince reading their comments?

Don't worry...I won't flame ya!

I wasn't even referring to Prince. I'm talking about contrasting Lakeside, EW&F, Parliament, The Bar-Kays, The Isley Brothers, Brothers Johnson, Marvin Gaye with Eminem, 50 Cent, Christina Aguielera (sp?!), Lil Kim. I feel good music vs. I'm-pissed-off-at-the-world music.

I'd choose the freedom to post whatever you wish, even if it is totally inane drivel, over adherence to the party line anytime.
