I have definitely had to to that at times. There are periods where I have to send Purple Rain into hibernation.

I think it was a Solo performance by Prince, along with Darling Nikki and When Doves Cry. I have to check the liner notes again.

When he played it live in Copenhagen, I thought I was gonna die. Indeed on my top-three all time favourites and then to hear it live. Thank you

Definitely my all-time-favourite track from Prince! The screaming...incredible, especially live.

Oh God in London last year he was rolling round on the floor screeching his guts out. It was the undisputed highlight of an awesome performance. I don't know how he does it.

From day one, when I heard this song, before I ever saw Purple Rain, The Beautiful Ones has been my favorite song of all time by Prince. And to this day, it still remains my fave, I never tire of it.

It's full of pure raw emotion, lyrically, and musically. And in the end, when it breaks down, and Prince goes into screaming, that screaming is not a gimmick to me, but a release of his anguish. Baby, I've got to know, is it him or is it me? Who among us has never felt like that? You want someone so much, and you watch them making a mistake with someone else. You want to scream out like Prince does in this song at the end, and you feel the sadness in his voice, the longing from the very beginning. This song has always meant something very special and personal to me, and I thank Prince for writing it.

The first time I heard this song was the first time I heard a song describe my life at that moment so well. I was the narrator of that joint screaming, begging, pleading, and all I had to show for it was a smashed picture. cry

Love this song to bits - When he did it live in Manchester last year it was awesome - To such an extent he dropped the mic and ended up rolling on the stage - He covered up the fact he dropped it so well by rolling around doubt if many noticed it!

In my view this is what I love about prince and emotional rollercoaster of a song.

Loving it - Loving it - Loving it

I was at a girls house last week. I was looking through her cd collection (pityfull). I saw a mariah carey cd with the 'beautiful ones' cover on it. As i had never heard this version before i listened to it. TERRIBLE. i continued to listen and sing along with the track. the girl comes into the the room and says "How do u know this song? its my favourite and u dont like mariah". so i told her that it was a cover and that it hasnt got shit on the origional. Later that day i burned her a copy of it onto cd and gave it as a present. i told her to listen closely to the dramatic ending.

She wasnt impressed.

How can someone prefer sisqo's passionless warblings over princes screams of pure tourment?

fucked up ho'
You do as I say
