Here's a review of The Rainbow Children, by Gavin Martin, in today's Daily Mirror newspaper (UK, Sat). Be warned, though, it contains a VERY shocking statement!


"If he's so prolific, why is the artist formerly known as squiggle only releasing this two-year-old album in the UK now? The peppy jazz work-outs are better live than on record but no-one produces sensual spiritual fantasy in the same universe as on Wedding Feast".

Okay, it's very brief - and the old 'Artist Formerly Known As' schtick is used - but it's fairly positive. And, if I remember correctly, Gavin Martin gave a LOT of praise for Prince's live concerts last year, so I guess he was pretty impressed.

However - is this the 1st ever positive comment about 'Wedding Feast'??? Buy that man a drink!!

Why are the Mirror only reviewing it now when it's been out officially in the UK for ohh, say about two months?

I didn't like the 'if Prince is so prolific' line, i thought that was dripping with sarcasm.Of course he's prolific!

Agreed, Marrk. Plus, it goes to show just how much (or little) most music reviewers know about our lil' fella these days. Tsk tsk.

If ONLY they knew about 'Xpectation', the NPGMC downloads, 'One Nite Alone', etc., etc..
