Prince literally smacks the music out on this album. Yes, it's certainly a lengthy endeavour but it maintains a unique vibe and impact almost everywhere you explore. As much as I enjoy Diamonds & Pearls, and consider it a far superior pop record, there was very little about its delivery that was quite as hardcore as the way the material was presented on this one.

Prince was militant on the album but does anyone understand why? Something was burning him up.

The Symbol album is very whorey but like it or not it has some perfect pop songs on it. Listen to "Blue Light", "Seven", "Love 2 The 9s" or many others and you will see that Prince is at the top of his game. I feel it is kind of cheesy but I still listen to it all the time and consider it one of his best song-by-song post Lovesexy albums (and it's better than Lovesexy ).
