You get asked to compile Timesless volume 2

Again, it has to be 10 tracks and career spanning

What would you put on it?

Mine

Neurotic Lover's Bedroom
Lisa
I Am Five
Evolsidog
The Grand Progression

Side 2

Dream
Synesthesia
Della Blackheart
Star (Sweet Dreams)
So Bad

The Dance Electric (fully produced, not that shit from bbefore)
Databank (The Revoution take where Prince finally gets cheeky)
'Camille' (We have the tracks, but not in this intended presentation)
"Lovesexy (Remix)" ...it was supposed to be a single, no?
All(2) 'Madhouse' albums reissued including 12" versions and b-sides.
.
This has nothing to do with that timeless crap.

Welcome to "the org", nayroo2002… life, it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop

Considdering the current Trumpish-USA, they will absolutely NOT release

Neurotic Lovers Bedroom.

-

Instead of a "Timeless II", and if they wanna stick to this stupid formula, I prefer them to release a "Crystal Ball II", a three CD set with random releases the way they work now.

-

There's so much material worth releasing, not having anything to do with known released albums / projects. Like :

- soundboard rehearsal jams (all in excellent quality),

- one-off recorded songs,

- collaborations/jams with invited artists in his PP.

- short TV performances,

- pre-re-recorded versions (like he gave to his bandmates to rehearse for live shows, like we had on 1999 SDE (tour demo),

- home recrodings like 1st ideas that never got full treatment,

- remixes (for others?) he did himself, but never released,

- recorded video ideas,

- etc...

For sure, there is sooooooo much more.

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves. And wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell 1872-1972)

10 random Prince tracks from whenever:

Neurotic Lover’s Bedroom (1977)
Lust U Always (1982 or possibly 1987/1988 version, if there is one, offered to Robert Palmer)
Call Of The Wild (23 July 1985)
Bloody Mouth (late 1987/15 November 1987)
Am I Without U? (1988)

Baby Doll (April/May 1992)
The Divine (July/August 1996)
Prince And The Band (May 2002 or 13 August 2006 version)
The Secret Text (2012/early 2013)
So Bad (14 January 2016)

But Bozojones’ list is more likely and made me smile 😀
There may or may not be something coming!

If you're tracklist doesn't include tracks from the 90s, 00s and 10s, then you've missed the conceit of this collection.

HOw about no Timeless Volume 2, like no Originals Volume 2.
Just let them employ a profesional and bandmembers, engineers and otehr asscoiates to compile archival sets with a specific album or era in mind instead of making a incoherent collection of tracks from different era's. This Timeless EP is just a disgrace to Prince after being gone a decade, he deserves so much more.
The Estate has become WB trying to keep a leash on Prince when he want3ed to put out more music and they refused. Prince is a slave again to a fucking lawyer.

Even worse : Prince has become a dead slave in the grave to his former lawyer.

-

I already wrote this; I bet my uncut middlepart, that not even one of them can name 10 released songs that were not hits, and, try to let them guess for 5 titles of unreleased songs, or, let them name in a exact order Prince's first 10 albums plus year of release!

-

Maybe Elon Musk need to buy The Estate, and release it all online, 'free' for all, the way it is, as an homage to incompetence.

-

Isn't there any possibility we can get some Prince lovin' professional hackers, that could get into the already digitalized part of the vault?

Just brutaly steal it? Share it with the world?

Gosh, i'm dreaming out loud.

Anyone?

wink

  3. All Along the Watchtower / Best of U (studio version as played out on the Howard Stern show pre the Superbowl minus his annoying talking over the track)
  4. I Would Die 4 U - (soundcheck live @ Civic Auditorium, San Francisco February 15, 1982)
  5. When Doves Scream (soundcheck circa 84/85)
  6. Extraloveable (1982 original, faded out towards end)
  7. Lady Cab Driver (live from the 1982 leg of the Triple Threat tour)
  8. When Doves Cry - with the bass added back in
  9. BAD - his take on MJ's track, if it, somehow survived being deleted
  10. Lovesexy remix (as briefly played on the BBc documentary)

...you know it's just synth bass stabs ala "Stand Back", yes?

I was hoping it would've been akin to the Brownmark or Levi live takes on it,
but reportings by those who have indeed heard the full, lavishly-overproduced, initial mix have stated
that it was not actually Prince playing a 4-string sad

There are two versions with bass and also a unused score version, maybe there is real bass on one of those.

lol absolutely! I would’ve approached it like this-

vol 1: 10 unreleased tracks from the 70s
vol 2: 10 unreleased tracks from the 80s
vol 3: 10 unreleased tracks from the 90s… and so on.

But that task would’ve been waaay too complex and difficult for the estate! lol

There are supposedly thousands of Prince songs in the vault. If that figure is in any way accurate then there are still loads of songs in there we don't know about yet. And we'll probably never know about them.
