  5. When Doves Scream (soundcheck circa 84/85)

  6. Extraloveable (1982 original, faded out towards end)

  8. When Doves Cry - with the bass added back in

  9. BAD - his take on MJ's track, if it, somehow survived being deleted

  10. Lovesexy remix (as briefly played on the BBc documentary)

How many unheard prince songs or prince songs with completely unheard of titles are really left to put on aa project
There are supposedly thousands of Prince songs in the vault. If that figure is in any way accurate then there are still loads of songs in there we don't know about yet. And we'll probably never know about them.

I agree - there will be a lot of tracks, especially from later years when leaks were rarer.

...you know it's just synth bass stabs ala "Stand Back", yes?

I was hoping it would've been akin to the Brownmark or Levi live takes on it,
but reportings by those who have indeed heard the full, lavishly-overproduced, initial mix have stated
that it was not actually Prince playing a 4-string sad

I hadn't heard that before - where do you get that from, that it was the synth bass stabs from "Stand Back"?

If you go by what is documented in Duane Tudahl's first book, there was only Prince - besides his engineers when the various instruemntations were recorded, then when he opted to 'un-produce' it, Peggy Mac's words not mine, Jill Jones was there - so not sure where you're getting it wasn't Prince playing whatever bass line was removed

WDC initial take is overproduced with more guitars... background and loop vocals...synths .. drums and bass...Prince shortened and edited the song like the one we all officially know!

I know, thus why I listed it on my wish list - to hear how it sounded with the bass back in rather than punched out

It was reported (i read it here on the Org!)
that the "bassline" was just a synth not unlike what he did on
the Stevie Nicks song "Stand Back", i.e. 16th note stabs.
It wasn't the same bassline, that would be ridiculous!
.
also, it was Rosie who did the scream intro to "Gett Off"!
biggrin

Welcome to "the org", nayroo2002… life, it ain't real funky unless it's got that pop
