so they play this song at every celebration in full and they know its amazing , yet they refuse to let the rest of the world hear it

Evolsidog (1985) - The entire song.

i bet it blows away everything on Timeless

do we even know if this song will be on the parade deluxe?

[Edited 6/9/26 19:46pm]

Probaply not since a deluxe set does not contain vault tracks at all

Now that we know that the estate in possession of Prince’s earliest studio recordings, they could do a small release like “Prince: the early years 1975-1977” but that’s expecting waaaay too much from them lol

I would love something like that.Rare, early material from that timeframe!

They should’ve included 1 or 2 of those Grand Central tracks instead! Now that we know that the estate in possession of Prince’s earliest studio recordings, they could do a small release like “Prince: the early years 1975-1977” but that’s expecting waaaay too much from them lol

.

Europe has copyright laws that amount to "use it or lose it", which state that sound recordings older than 50 years enter the public domain if they are never officially released. Which means those Grand Central tracks could enter up in that situation, because I wouldn't be surprised if these are in the hands of elite collectors. And this would be the moment to make bank by selling them to companies who would love to release such things.

.

Those laws is why you sometimes see the likes of Pink Floyd do live recordings dumps every now and then: by releasing them they increase the length of the copyrights on those tracks.

And as a side note , I briefly spoke with Mr Spicer and he said the reason for the inclusion of How Come U Don't Call Me on Timeless was because of the way the crowd responsed to this performance.

If it's not on Parade Deluxe with a couple of other unreleased songs, then there's no point in buying the set. [Edited 6/9/26 22:46pm]

other than it would be Remastered for better sound quality but otherwise if not a SDE - a huge missed opportunity

Three tweets WRT the listening session:

.

Spicer mentioned princevault disparagingly. said people go there but their info is straight from the tape boxes/track sheets

.

Next was confusing. Spicer said it was question of u from 1985 and mentioned prince asking Eric to come lay some sax down in studio B. Idk if he was just painting a pic but it’s a false one. There was no studio B in 1985 as there was no paisley park either.

.

This song ended up being 12 keys from the Flesh sessions December 85 which were done in LA at sunset sound and it was an edit. It cuts off before Sheila’s drums come in.

.

And then they get upset when we call it a clown show.

I know how internet works thanks, I'm online from 1988, but I preferred to leave you the chance to make up for the fact that you made a quote without a source, which is a bad habit on the net, thanks.

Surprised no one has mentioned that the guitar part on "I am U" sounds like Chic's "Le Freak." Seems like "Le Freak" was released in fall 1978 so maybe I should say "Le Freak" sounds like "I am U."

Hey you! Get out on this dance floor!

I’m surprised So Bad is so underrated by the people who were there. I think it sounds really good. It’s heartening to know that he was still trying new things musically, even at the end of his life. I am finding it the most enjoyable of the 3 most recent tracks they played.

Nothing is beating Evolsidog tho. Insanity that there were never plans to release it. It wouldn’t have fit on Parade, thematically, but it’s just as good as anything on it, maybe even better than some of the songs. Didn’t fit the album but too good for a b-side. I wonder how many others of those are laying around.

I was more impressed by "Fun Love" than "Evolsidog" when it was "leaked" on low-low-fi

And what can you tell us about that track?

From CaseyRain on twitter: "10. "The Guilty Ones" (2007) This will be the sleeper hit of the Timeless set, THIS SONG IS EVERYTHING. Super heavy blues rock that is almost giving White Stripes or QOTSA (as references to other rock of that era). This song is massive. Huge drums and guitar, like Fury dialed up"

Thank you for that. I'm cautiously optimistic that this could be a solid album after all. I happen to prefer 10 song albums when there's no filler. An album like Rave un2 could have been a fine 9-10 song album but instead it is bogged down by mediocrity.

I enjoyed Fun Love. But the version I have has someone kinda taking over it. Not that the sound on the Paisley listening session is much better.
