Prince album with new music dropping this summer: Exclusive Prince fans, brace yourselves: The attorney who helped build Prince’s legacy says the late musician’s music vault is vast, and the world is finally about to hear what’s inside.
A new album of original, previously unreleased Prince material is coming this summer, according to L. Londell McMillan, the attorney who has been central to managing and protecting the late artist’s estate. “We’re going to have new songs this summer,” McMillan confirmed exclusively to The Scoop. “This is going to be new songs.” When pressed on how many tracks fans can expect, McMillan was coy but said there would be more than eight new songs and that it could be a double album. Parade expanded with one vault disc would be my guess. If you think we’re getting two releases this year, you’re living in cloud cuckoo land. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! |

Expectations are currently so low that one disc of vault stuff would be welcome by most. A leak of a possible fuller Parade Super Deluxe vault material would be better at this stage, a bit like the Diamonds & Love one (and possibly more likely if the next announcement doesn’t amount to much). There may or may not be something coming! |

I'll believe it when I see it on the shelves and not before. My expectations are so low right now im more worried about what theyre going to release. Will it all be from the same era or a random mix. How many typos will they make this time. And most importantly how much are they going to try to rip us off. |

Remember when we got the two-track Vault Series: Vol. 1, and then never got any follow-up? Or when they said they wouldn't go through 2024 "without doing Purple Rain justice" and then they didn't release anything new for its anniversary? How about when they claimed "The Vault has been freed" over a year ago and then proceeded not to release anything substantial? Remember when they claimed an expanded Parade set was "coming", and then immediately moved on to promising other vague and nebulous concepts instead of giving any details or timeline for the supposed Parade set? |

It all sounds like they even haven't figured out what they are going to do and are making up those statements on the go. More than eight new songs and It could be a double album Sounds as vague as a child lying to his mum for not making the homework.

Sounds like nonsense to me. Although, as I’ve speculated before, they relaunched Hit & Run 1 and 2, so there could be a Volume 3. Whatever they call it, I just hope it’s a selection of good songs from a single era or project, and not a mashup of whatever they could find. |

Agree with the comment above, I think this is probably 8 tracks from the aborted Diamonds & Love / Love Symbol project. Or maybe 10, or maybe 12, who knows...
Think fans are likely to be disappointed.
The Estate love an interview, a press conference, an announcement... but not so keen on packaging Prince's best music up effectively for a release.
As usual 3-4 projects have been teased or discussed - Parade, Emancipation etc - not many people have a great deal of faith that any of these will be managed, or released well, if at all.

Summer is almost here so if there's actually something to this then we shouldn't have too long to wait for a proper announcement. Of course, it could all be a load of nonsense but I choose to remain positive. | |

I kind of like the idea of smaller releases as long as they are regular
I'm an album guy. I find albums more listenable than larger collections, Probably due to time constraints. For me 40 -50 minutes is best. I hope they have found completed albums we are not aware of or at least compile listenable album like collections, think Jimi's Cry Of Love and Rainbow Bridge. The worst scenario (but the most probable) is this release is a selection from Diamonds & Love leaked last year. I doubt the Estate is releasing a vault collection with With This Tear AND an album of songs never heard, unlike what many people on reddit think. Another scenario is a collection of vault songs played during last celebrations. . Of course, communication is always a disaster. |

. LOL. Lonnie is such an amateur. All he's good at is self-boasting, and most of the things he says are lies. "We put out x amount of tracks" -- no you didn't, the other guys did. You just happened to be there. . It sounds like this album is in no way a sure thing. |

It would make sense in that regard if the upcoming album consists of those tracks. And it would be a great way for the Estate to troll the diehards they seem to despise. |

In a recent interview with Jon Bream who to me was beyond close to Prince and his circle. He said the heirs to Prince all sold their shares to two separate companies which we know and Londell is one half of it, he spoke to him late March 2026 and he said that the vault of music there maybe 40% of it had been gone through. He said (Jon that is) the Netflix Documentary really messed up a lot of what could have happened. Netflix has the rights to all that vault stuff it used and had access to and lots of other stuff to video footage wise and when it got shelved it basically shelved the chance of that stuff coming out till everyone is taken care of financially with these lawsuits |
