Jill Jones speaks to The Mirror about violence

https://www.mirror.co.uk/...uHo3KMfnpQ

Site is fully of shitty adds, sorry.

Maybe not much more than was like about the Netflix documentary, but she adds context.

That is why she remains so frustrated that the documentary was shelved amid reports the estate found it to be “sensationalized”, and had withheld the use of Prince's music. For Jill, the truth about Prince was never simple. And trying to erase parts of it, she believes, does him no favours.

“They want to keep him in a little bag….a little category,” she says. “And they’re actually making it more than what it was, because when you deprive people of knowing something, it eventually comes out.”

My question is, when was this interview conducted?

To answer my own question:

"I also had no control over the timing of the release of an interview given within the past year.".

Probably a good thing that she gets out what she said in the doc.
If the estate see these stories are already in the public domain, maybe they’ll let it be released!!

It's always a mistake to try and cover something up. It only makes things look worse. They knew, they tried to keep it quiet.

Their own documentary will be released. It won't mention this. They'll be accused of sugar coating. The documenary won't be taken seriously.

Oh look, sweeping it under the rug didn't work. If they'd put out the NF documentary it would've been yesterday's chip paper by now, but here we are.

I'll never understand the irrational fear of Prince getting "cancelled" over this story being in the documentary. There are dozens of celebrities who have been publicly outed as worse than Prince in a myriad of ways, who are either still thriving in their careers or still widely celebrated by the general public. Johnny Depp, Chris Brown, Brad Pitt, Kobe Bryant, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, Steven Tyler, James Brown... the list is endless.

The public is willing to overlook a lot of heinous shit as long as they enjoy the work of the celebrity at fault. Not saying it's right or that I agree, but that's the way it is. Prince wasn't accused of anything close to Cosby or Weinstein level abuse, so he's not gonna be "cancelled" or have his legacy damaged by this in the long run. The estate needs to just let people see Prince as the complex human being he was instead of trying to sugarcoat his entire life. In the end, people will always come back around to his art and the good that he did.

If they're not going to tell both the good and the bad why bother? Most rational people don't want a caricature of the man.

Imagine Londell trying to block the doc hoping Jill's story won't come out and now it's here available for the world to see.

At this point just fckn release the doc.

I'm very proud of Jill for telling her story and trying to contextualise it properly. It is very brave to speak out, and the more we tell the truth, the hope is that more things change. More people should reflect on their own behaviour and do better, and hopefully we will build a better paradigm.

Well...the one who should be doing the "reflection" is Prince and he's not here so I don't get the point.

She just wants attention.

Which, in the UK, is akin to going to the National Enquirer in the USA

We love Prince and his music , live performances! Everything! However is no use having your head in the sand about his behaviour to some of the women in his life! It’s something I have had to get my head around. Loving his music etc , but realising he was a complicated man.

His personal life is only interesting to hardcore fans. The world just needs to focus on his music.

I can see ppl being interested in his marriage at best but ex-fuck buddies, not so much.

Agreed. I love his music. That's all that matters to me. I don't care what he got up to in his private life. He could be the second coming of Christ or he could be a mass murderer and it wouldn't change my opinion on his music one way or another.

That being said, I don't think anyone should really be surprised at this point to read stories like this about him.

Those stories have been known by fans for years. I don't see the point in sharing this with the rest of the world. They don't give a fck either way.

In my opinion she should have kept her hands to herself not hit Prince. It seems easy for her to say that she slapped him as if that couldn't have hurt the guy. Maybe she did more than slap him maybe it was a few slaps, who knows? What do you expexct to happen when you haul off and slap someone's face? Personally, I would not hit a woman but alot of humans believe if you assault me , then I'm assaulting you back male or female. Also this is only one side to this story- Hers. hmm I wonder if The Mirror magazine paid her?

If the documentary was available, the public could decide for themselves if and what they are interested in.wink

I really want to see that doc, unedited.

Prince fans need to come to grips with the truth that Prince was an abuser. I did last year, it was hard for me to realize this. Everyone is not lying.

Jill Jones (was punched multiple times)

Sinead O’ Connor (was verbally and threatened by physical abuse)

Charlene Friend (was emotionally and sexually abused)

Lisa ( was punched in the face. Read big chicks book and vanity’s unreleased memoir)

Mayte ( was groomed at 16 and was emotionally abused)

Anna Fantastic ( was groomed at age 15)

Robin Power recalled being roughed up by Prince when he was angry/jealous that she was seeing a basketball ball player ( watch her Mike dean interview)

Abuser where ? Because he responded back when Jill Jones is the one who slapped him ?

I'm talking about physical abuse here.

You're adding your own projections. Nowhere does Charlene Friend say that he was sexually abused.

He grabbed Robin Power by the hand and took her to another room, because she was dancing with another guy, you call that abuse ?

Charlene said Prince recorded them having sex without her consent and forced her to watch him have sex with other girls and was verbally abusive. NEWSFLASH! You don’t punch a woman in the face multiple times! Can’t believe this has to be explained.
