What's really odd - about the video on the Spin Magazine site - is that it's a pretty pensive, emotional song, but most of the footage in the film is of high energy Prince live performances, with endless shots of him doing the splits (for example), it's just completely out of whack with the song.
It's almost like, beyond the initial childhood clips and footage, whoever was editing it, just lost focus on the song and its message / got bored?? and began to just throw live clips into the promo...without feeling any need to match any of the visuals with the message of the song.
It's just head scratching, that something like this could be edited so poorly. Really and truly it's not difficult, it's an emotional track...not sure what else to say.
And why on such a momentous milestone - of this legendary artist - do we get just 1 track (already known about) that was given to Celine Dion??
"Confusion!" (mic drop)

On a quick listen it didn't shock me as being different than the D&L leak. Did anyone bother to compare the two? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Yes, it is identical to the version/production on the Diamonds & Love leak.

It is appreciated by me, I'm glad that this has been added to the Prince canon. I have back to backed the version on Tidal with the diamonds and love FLAC leak and I think I can hear some subtle differences in the strings, but if I was blind listening I'm not so sure... I'll leave that to younger ears and waveform interpreters🤣

. With I Hear Your Voice, penned from D&P SDE... It seems to good to be true. Ok, not SO good, but better with this "one song from the vault every year"

. So the leaked one is a Prince original, the official release is the Chris James version.

Could indeed be a Love Symbol outtake collection.
In 2027, the Estate will likely own the masters of this album, which is probably when we’ll see a Deluxe or whatever.
It clearly reflects the ongoing WB vs. Estate friction. Until that’s fully resolved, expect the Estate to prioritize anything they can push through Sony/Legacy instead.
That’s exactly why 3121 and Musicology (post-WB era) are moving to the front of the pipeline. They’d rather keep the lion's share with Sony than split the pot with Warner.

Let the speculation commence.

So we have a "propter expanded version" of Parade, something related to 3121, a deluxe version of Musicology, a streaming vault jukebox, a album of outtakes, everything "coming later"... no roadmap, no tracklist, no official communication...

“With This Tear” is a previously unreleased studio recording from Prince’s legendary vault. Recorded in November 1991 at Paisley Park, the track has been newly mixed and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer/producer Chris James (Frank Ocean, Miguel, Janelle Monáe), a longtime Prince collaborator (HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age, Plectrumelectrum) and features Prince producing, arranging, composing, and performing all instrumentation. Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded her own version in 1992. This track is the beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never before released Prince album project.
This press release definitely rings a bell... and reminds me of this press release from 2023 "The two recordings were previewed last month at Paisley Park’s Celebration 2023, where attendees were gifted the tracks on special cassette-shaped USB keys. The two Vault releases are now available to all Prince fans worldwide for the first time, as part of an emerging Prince Vault Series and as a followup to Celebration 2023."
It's true that we've had an impressive Vault Series since 2023...
We've been fooled before so I'll believe it when I see it. [Edited 4/21/26 12:53pm]

Bought the single on iTunes this morning. Currently #31 on their singles chart and climbing. Got it on repeat. Love the song. He sounded great and good production. Listened to Céline Dion’s version as well. Definitely fits her style of singing and voice that’s why he offered it to her. Good to have this release on the 10th anniversary of his passing. "Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."

Wasn't the leak from the D&L project, thus James' mix? Or was there another leak before that? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
