Articles about Prince and 10 years since his passing

There probably going to be a few articles in the next few days, so thought having one thread for them might be helpful. Here’s one from the Guardian’s website (UK website) tha includes comments by those close to him at one time or another (Andre, Apollonia, Owen Husney, etc.).

There may or may not be something coming!

This one was touching, and very insightful. Some of Candy’s comments about him were a bit shocking but also made a lot of sense. The JW thing was a bit puzzling at the time, but he was really struggling, more than many could fathom. And without it we might’ve lost him even sooner.

I also thought that Candy's statement was the most interesting.

Thought the Guardian piece was excellent, didn't want it to end. Thanks for sharing.

plus Roy's.

I thought the comment about calling him 'horse head' was uncalled-for, and I highly doubt they would have actually said it to his face.

There's also a video interview of Jon Bream on YouTube (Prince, 10 Years Later...). (Jon Bream is a Minnesota music critic who covered Prince's whole career - including highs and lows between he and Prince.)

The Guardian piece was as revelatory as that GQ article 10 years ago.

Catching Purple Rain in 1984 at a theater on the Upper East Side on the afternoon of its release (Andy Warhol was in the audience) was an experience like no other I’d ever had in a movie house. From the first flicker to the last scene, the audience was as electrified as the instruments and performers on screen. During the “Darling Nikki” sequence when Prince is simulating sex on top of a speaker, one woman screamed, “I wish I was a speaker!” We all laughed.
