That sounds like a brilliant idea rudeboy4711, not least because I've never heard half of those songs.

Leaving For New York is a real favourite though...I had it on a CD once, but then it snapped!

As far as I know, only Leaving For New York, For You #1, Soft and Wet #1, and an untitled instrumental clocking in at 7:30 minutes are the only recordings from the Moonsound Studio sessions in circulation… they are pretty easy to find. I wish the estate would do something for the 1976-1978 era!

I also want to hear the earliest version of "sometimes it snows in April " and Prince's cover version of "send in the clowns"

One would not think that. Prince recorded just about every day, so it wouldn't be very realistic for the estate to go through the trouble of doing something special every time a song hits a milestone.

The point is not to celebrate each individual song’s anniversary, that’s just ridiculous. The point I’m making is that this year marks the beginning of Prince’s professional recording career and THAT is the milestone. Right now the estate is now choosing to apparently do something for Parade’s 40th anniversary (so far just 1 post about an “expanded” edition of the album) but why not at least also acknowledge the beginning of his career as a professional recording artist? Is it really that much trouble for the estate to do a special release of at least some of the songs Prince recorded in 1976 to celebrate that milestone?
