Can anyone identify which version of 'Neon Telephone' is the original July 1985 recording and which is the 1986 new mix?

The obvious difference is the 'shoo-shoo-hoo' vocal in the intro.

I’d love to hear both versions in official audio quality. I hope they both get included in the Super Deluxe Edition.

Not sure but the one without the shoo-shoo-hoo is far far superior

Totally! I think the one with the shoo shoo hoo is the older version since it also lacks the phone sound fx and vocal overdubs

It has been a whole week since their laughably cryptic post, and still no details or any hint of when details might come. Great job, estate!

They will probaby wait until Celebration to make their "big" announcement. rolleyes

Yes, you might be right and they probably won't release any singles from the set until then.

The article in the StarTrib yesterday says this:

.

McMillan mentioned that reissues of a deluxe version of Prince’s “Parade” (1986) and “Musicology” (2004) are in the works.

.

So lower your expectations.

A deluxe version of "Musicology"? I know it's a popular album among the diehard fans, but it did nothing for me. Is it really worth a deluxe upgrade? When classics like "Lovesexy" and "Dirty Mind" are still waiting for their moment?...

I would argue that everything is worth a Deluxe upgrade if they come with a bunch of unreleased songs.

By that same token, I would also argue that nothing is worth a Deluxe upgrade if the Around The World In A Day set is the benchmark.

Musicology, really? neutral

who on earth wants that? Still many albums far more deserving of being released in some expanded form.

Me. I want that. I would take anything if it includes unreleased vault tracks on it. But even aside from that, I would much rather a Musicology Deluxe Edition than any of the 90s albums and most of the 80s albums that haven't already been given one.

I see.

personally I hope a release isn't wasted on such a mediocre album, the "quality of the outtakes makes me shudder.

Vibe, if I rememebr well, talk about the Parade "expanded" version in 2027. And the "vault" album coming this year could ben the Symbol SDE they pressed some years ago. Make sense?

It could have something to do with what’s going on with Warner at the moment. That’s why we probably won’t get Parade this year. I wish The Estate could be more open about their plans and why certain projects take time.
