Feline

If Feline had been included on The Family album it would have been it's best track.

Drop River Run Dry, include Feline and you make an already fantastic album totally awesome.

River Run Dry is the superior song, imo.

Feline doesn't match the tone of the album at all.

Those instrumentals should be taken off and used as b-sides. Put anything else in their place.

I'm not sure that St Paul could have really pulled off the swagger in Feline.It also has a bit of overlap with hollyrock and maybe they didn't want to repeat.

Some of the lyrics did later get used on "Holly Rock." But "Feline" came first.

But - has there been a vocal version of it that's leaked? I only have it as part of "Erotic City" in a rehearsal jam, and as an instrumental. Paul confirmed he did record a vocal for it.

It's circulating yeah, it was part of the Closer 2 God leaks a few years back. Great funky tune, with a cool Prince rap.

Agreed. I love Miss Understood as well, but it didn't fit in either.

Given the amount of material at his disposal, I was always a little disappointed that Prince wouldn't drop more b-sides, whether on his own singles or the side projects. Granted, we had a lot of them, but many singles has an album cut or some remix as a b-side, too.

Speaking of, I may be one of the few people who has the remix of "High Fashion." Someone in the Prince camp played it on a live stream once, and I recorded the audio. So it's not straight from vinyl quality, but I have the whole version of it. I wish it had been released. It's funky! Just rearranged from existing tracks, but it the bass is in it!

This is why a nice little 2-disk remaster of The Family would be great.

Miss Understood is pure dumb sleaze pop, but as far as pure dumb sleaze pop goes... Living Doll is still the king. Masterpiece song.
