He comes across as a guy who probably wants to do well but unfortunately he's incompetent and rather than admit that he doesn't know what he's doing he fights back against the very people who are trying to help him by telling him what they want and what they're willing to spend their money on. All these documentaries and musicals and stuff are all well and good but ultimately, Prince fans are mainly interested in hearing Prince music. It's really not a hard concept to grasp. |

I think thats a oversimplification because they make enough money selling non-music things to keep the boat afloat. And they don't care about the old fans and there wants, lonny has been more than clear about that. Prince was really into stage plays and was always writing or plannig things for those things. He even announced his retirement from releasing music in favor of focussing on stage plays in 92/93, didn't happen of course but still.

Get people in there that are not self-serving and padding their pockets while delivering next to nothing.
Prince, like Michael Jackson, is the gift that keeps on giving. (To quote Whoopi Goldberg in 2009.) Every day when I awake, the greatest of joys is mine: that of being ME. |

He's retarded, slow.
But capable enough to sneak his way into the Estate. If that is retarded then what are the fans who keep supporting them?

He's been around since 1996 or so. Old dude didn't just sneak in. Prince invited him.
If fans are supporting such clueless people, then they're clueless, too.
Not to be political, but some Prince fans are like registered voters who vote partylines no matter what.

It seems the estate is fine with making money through mainly movie licensing and apparel. I sure wish they took the approach the Elvis estate takes. Everything looks first class - the fan experience seems unparalleled; everything polished, constant refreshing of brand and musical output (including apparel and brick and mortar concepts. If you didn't know Elvis was already long deceased, you wouldn't be able to tell based on the "freshness" of their constant output.

I'm sure they are making some money doing what they're doing. But they could be making more money if they also released some vault music. They wouldn't have to stop doing any of the musicals or whatever. In fact, there would be a lot less backlash from fans towards these musicals and documentaries if they were thrown a bone every now and then. Having no new releases to look forward to just leaves a bad taste in the mouth. If we had a new vault album released every year they would have a lot more fans on their side and you'd probably even see those other projects more warmly received. |

This all makes sense for a flourishing business so the Estate is not interested, because clearly they don't want that or our 'old fan' money. Good luck with getting money from new fans who only stream because they can't afford anything like a physical release and think vinyl is a good medium for music.

Londell, and his buddy Charles, are self-serving assholes who care more about swindling fans and lining their own pockets (with as little effort as possible) than actually preserving Prince's musical legacy. |
