Possible release - Act Two: Live At Sheffield Arena Record Store Day 2026 Edition?

https://www.hhv.de/record...98fa0d87c6

Seen a link to this just now on Housequake’s Facebook page . Can’t see it mentioned on official RSD lists for UK but it looks like it is a Warner Central Europe release.

Edit: This would be the show: https://princevault.com/i...ugust_1993

Edit: Actually more likely the second show in Sheffield on 2 August 1993 that was recorded by Sheffield 538 Radio, but Prince pulled the plug on the broadcast at last minute. Still no official source for this release info just the hhv.de listing (i.e. so speculative still whether an official release or bootleg, albeit it mentions Warners in the listing).

Nice!! Finally something to be excited about. It would be great if the estate could release video as well.

Fingers crossed this is just a prelude to the bigger release.

So, I'm gathering there was an unbroadcast radio recording. Which makes me think this may not be official. What are the legalities on radio recordings that aren't actually broadcast?

Too good to be true, I'm afraid.

I bet this is just one of those unofficial broadcast releases taking advantage of the loopholes on the copyright laws on some territories.

A portion of this show been circulating on bootlegs for years. That's probably what's going to be released, not the complete show.

Could be a quick attempt at easing the growing tension between the Estate and the fan base. Anyway, every vault release is welcome, of course. It's better than having nothing new.

Noticed it! ...But then again, hhv.de don't seem to be very scrupulous. Scrolling down a bit on that page you'd find a couple of bootlegs.

.

Would be good to see what any other retailer lists about this release.

One of those "legal but unofficial" radio-broadcast releases effectively just piggybacking off RSD, I think.

As it's not in the official RSD list, whoever is behind this has probably just declared it an "RSD Edition" without going through the official channels to approve it as one, lol

Although the Warner mention is throwing me, so hopefully I'm wrong lol

aparently they've advertised Prince bootleg releases as RSD releases from Warner before on that site, so most likely a bootleg.

Same here, I would rather have the Dutch show from teh 10th because of the setlist, but having the Sheffield show on soundboard even tho it's a bootleg would be great. I don't expect the Estate is competent or even able enough to release simple releases like this to make money and spread joy among the fans they seem to hate.

Note that what's circulating is far from the complete show anyway: just The Beautiful Ones, Let's Go Crazy, Kiss, The Cross, SOTT, Purple Rain, Girls & Boys and 1999. If anything else is added to this release, it will probably be from any other source/show.

Only about a half hour of the soundboard circulates from the radio broadcast, but the entire soundcheck and show is curculating in not totally awful audience recording.

I have a feeling this is official, but not for this Record Store Day.

Seems it was canceled because of testpressing issues according to someone on X who asked his record store contact who checked it with a WB rep.
Hopefully it'll be released later this year but on CD so we can have the full show and not some edited version that will likely appear on the 2LP.

I guess we have to wait and see, but I really hope it's official. It does say Warner so who knows.

From Funkatobia on Facebook "FOLLOW UP. So, we have more information on the supposed Record Store Day release of the Prince and the New Power Generation show from Aug. 2, 1993. Apparently, it WAS supposed to be an official release from Warner Records of Central Europe. It was recorded from the soundboard and overseen by Prince to be broadcast on Sheffield radio, but then cancelled. The test pressings from the vinyl manufacturer were not "passing the grade", so the release got scrapped. HHV did not get the memo. So we WERE going to be getting something awesome, but they refused to put out an inferior product. Kudos to the gatekeepers. But...dang..." I hope we at least get a digital release at some point.

Kudos to the Estate for not releasing something not up to quality - but it does beg the question what was wrong with it? It was recorded professionally so I assume there's no sound issues from the source...was it a last minute decision and was rushed? Or was it something else? Either way I do hope we get a cd/bluray release soon..im not a huge fan of concerts on vinyl..too many flips!

If the testpressing revealed some flaws it means something went wrong in the vinyl mastering or the vinyl cut. both are steps before the actual manufacturing. You do a test pressing exactly for the reason to reveal this mistakes and it is a comepletely ordinary process. repeat the mastering and/or the vinyl cut and this shouldnt be an issue - nor reason to CANCEL this release. only problem: this process takes time and before Record Store Day vinyl manufactoring factorys are fully booked. BUT even this shouldn't be an issue for WARNER, they should have huger capacaties booked in advance. So I am sure this is not the actaul issue.

And: excited for the show, but not too excited about "soundboard" recordings in general. if this was a broadcast recording of course there should be an actual LIVE recording - huge difference.

The vinyl issues shouldn’t be an excuse to cancel the release. They could easily put it out digitally, but we all know how badly they handle things.
