I missed the one show he did in Poland, in Gdynia (Beautiful ciy btw).

The reviews were mostly very positive, but that was probably because he did not perform live in Poland very often when he came to Europe.

This was the only concert ever in poland. He never performed there before or after.

Mine was one of the Vegas shows (i think it was) where Prince had diahrea or something because he kept on letting Renato/the band noodle on stage while he pased around doing nothing and then every coupole of minutes move back backstage to do whatever.

... Prince in his assless pants sitting on a bucket backstage,

and a crew member handing him paper. biggrin

Prince in falsetto, loud : “turn around, and make some noise”

The image alone

LOL

biggrin

Can't be. He told George lopez that the best way to avoid stomach issues is to become a vegetarian like him.

Believe me, Vegie or not.

I'm a vegetarian, and you can have diahrrea from anything, even from a bucket filled with squirreled meat. wink

Still, I find it interesting that we haven't heard about a single bad show from the 80's. I've read that some of his Nude tour shows weren't that great.

Those were pretty lame after a few dates, that was a bad way to start the 90s.

.

Not great concerts, but the opening section was fantastic and had me going "oh, he kinda understands dance music" (and then he never came anywhere close to that again). And The Question Of U was out of this world.

.

There were still flashes of brilliance in the show, but too often the attention went to people who shouldn't be on that stage: Game Boyz and in particular Rosie Gaines. And those endless jams at the end were a borefest.

.

So many elements of this show later returned over and over again: untalented dancers, over-presence of mediocre vocalists, endless jams,...

Rosie Gaines a mediocre vocalist?

.

Agree with you on the whole about these shows though.

Manchester Maine Road in 1990 was really bad and seemed to be cut short.

Any of the Third Eye Girl shows, Prince had changed from the Strat to Vox and it just didn't have the same sound. Also, the other band members (apart from Ida) were pretty average.

Just my opinion smile

Fully agree. I wasn't impressed by them but they were kind of fun but it was the first time ever during a Prince concert that I xchecked my watch for it to be over and the subpar talent of Donna and Hannah on there instruments was also kind of shit.

To counter, I thought the 3EG shows (before they started playing 'the hits') were a breath of fresh air, with fantastic reworkings of old songs.

Indeed!

I also felt Prince reinvigorated. In 2013, 3EG were actually an exciting project and I have no complaints whatsoever on the shows I have witnessed or heard on boots. The following year the shows were a mixed bag and the hits were more and more prominent -probably a wise move thinking of the masses, but definetely not up to the standards we've been used to with previous line-ups.

When 3EG reworked old songs (e.g. Let's Go Crazy, She's Always in My Hair, Something in the Water) they were superb. When they later added the obvious hits in a more standard way (e.g. Take Me With U/Raspberry Beret), they were very much by-the-numbers.
