Thank you. Just pre-ordered. Phase 2 is one of my most replayed albums. Sad that it's the last Prince album before his passing. Yet, I think it's a fitting finale.

1st time on vinyl releases are smart. It's a no-brainer. In between the deluxe & SDE & vault stuff they are an easy way to bring in even more revenue for something people want... the MUSIC.

For those that don't collect vinyl it's not an exciting release, but so what. It's better than pillows & mugs.

Very glad of this! I have managed to hold out on buying the pirate copies of these 2.

Really happy about this, I think HnR2 is amazing despite being a bit of a "collection" rather than a true album, it was a strong end for his career (also! Free Urself as the last single is beautiful).

Makes me wonder, what are the remaining studio albums which have NEVER had a vinyl release?
Is it just Crystal Ball and 20ten left? Ignoring oddities like NPG albums, News and Xpectation, and NPGMC material of course. Oh and the full Hits/B-sides set.

I want everything on vinyl so I'm not ignoring anything.. Except compilations, I'll ignore those only.

Girl 6

Crystal Ball (okay, I'll ignore Kamasutra, don't need that on vinyl, LOL)

NEWS

Xpecations

C-Note

The Chocolate Invasion

The Slaughterhouse

Indigo Nights: Live Sessions

20Ten

absolutely we need the NPG albums

GoldNigga

Newpower Soul

i even want a 12" of The War

I even think they should reissue rare stuff I already have but most do not:

Exodus
LotusFlow3r

MPLSound

Black Album (I get why they won't, but even Prince allowed the limited release in '94, another limited release (RSD maybe?) would be very popular.

In 2025 vinyl sales are starting to overcome declining CD sales. Really, there's absolutely no reason not to have the entire catalog available on both physical media formats. It's easy money. Come get it.

Lotusflow3r and MPLSound were released on vinyl a couple of years ago no? Should be easy to find a copy. Black Album of course was released on vinyl in 94, I still have my old copy but I agree it is long overdue a reissue.

Strictly speaking I think Exodus and Goldn*gga had vinyl releases as well but ofc super rare so I'd love to see them reissued.
But in terms of the "mainline "studio albums that have never been on vinyl, I think it is just 20Ten and Crystal Ball.

Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse haven’t had any physical release, so they’d be welcome on CD and if you must vinyl, with a nice package showing credits and lyrics at least.

I could be wrong but I believe the only official Lotusflow3r & MPLSound release was 2009. That's the one I have but if I didn't I couldn't afford to get it now. It needs a re-release.

The 94 Black Album is indeed also expensive, we're among the lucky ones, everybody should have another opportunity to get it.
Exodus did have a release. Again very rare and in need of a re-release. Even though I have it I would gladly buy another if it was redone as a 2xLP as the existing single LP has too much on each side.
GoldNigga never got a vinyl release.
Why NEWS and the NPGMC should be skipped over, I have no idea. Count me as buying those on vinyl day one! For that matter the NPGMC stuff needs a CD release too!!

Fyi the Lotusflow3r set was re-released on vinyl in 2015 and 2017, you can see it listed on Discogs.

IIRC they kinda botched the initial re-press so I think that's why the 2017 version corrected the errors.

True.

It's weird, in my head we went from The Rainbow Children to Musicology to 3121. For whatever reason the piecemeal NPGMC tracks never seemed like true albums to me. Maybe it's the lack of a physical release.

Thanks, I didn't know about those. However, like the 2009 release, they were released only in Europe and are now already pretty expensive. They should get a U.S. re-release. Also, if it were up to me, it would be two separate releases rather than packaged together.

I confirm : it was manufactured in France (Because Production). I bought one recently for 30 €.

I read a Facebook post earlier about 7 inches accompanying these HitnRun 1 & 2 releases, think it said one of them was Baltimore and Stare, possibly free with a magazine may be a German one). Tried to find the post again just now and can’t find it - perhaps it was just made up bollox!

Yawn. Another digital recording, transferred onto a lesser, 75 year old, eco-reckless medium, just so people can stroke a 'collection'.

When will the 'one step' version be released to fleece the gullible even more?

This is all well and good for collectors...when do fans get something? There're reissues dropping left and right that include music I've never heard by musicians that I've loved and supported for decades, and prince ain't one of them. The days of buying low value product to 'support the estate' are behind me. My cd sounds fine.

My interest for this and the singles is 0. The only thing would be great would be a phase 3 release in 2026, but not with this Estate.

Right on! I get why some would not be interested much less excited. But being grumpy about it and dismissmissive of those of us that do want it I'll never understand. It's not for them, it's for those of us that enjoy the vinyl format. I couldn't care less about the ATWIAD RSD singles set. So I just didn't buy it. I might be disappointed that there wasn't a RSD release that I did want, but I wasn't upset about the release that I didn't want. Some people like 45s, and for them, it was a pretty sweet release.

As for scoffing at the vinyl format, these days it's a no-brainer to make entire catalogs available on the format for the simple fact that their are those of us that want it, why NOT take our money.

Correct. And Exodus is over 66min split on 2 sides. That's not good at all. Needs a 2xLP release for sure!!
