Will the protegee albums ever appear on streaming?

The Family, Chaka's Come 2 My House, hell, even New Power Soul ain't on there.

Will the legal issues and red tape ever be resolved??

And why on earth isn't The Black Album on Spotify?

The Black Album isn't anywhere. Supposedly the Estate haven't made it availble due to Prince's wishes. I'm not sure if that's been verified or just fan speculation.

I don't think the estate really give a shit about Prince's wishes.

I recently got the Come 2 My House CD for under a tenner, as I’d neglected to get it at the time. It’s a decent listen.

I also just got the Carmen Electra CD for a fiver as I’ve lost my original one and wanted to hear it in context of the recent leaks. Again well worth a listen even for the background music. Having Jill Jones album on C as a proper digital source is another matter though - my early 2000s attempt at a needle drop needs a ten fold increase in quality by a new release.
There may or may not be something coming!

They've been promising Come 2 My House for more than two years and they cannot manage that.

Exactly and that’s why I’m skeptical that they’re gonna do anything with the protégée albums. They make big promises but they don’t always deliver.

A reissue will certainly cost more than the $10 that the original can be had for on ebay...

Blue Limousine is on the iTunes Store but appears to be copyrighted by “Metrophon Music Spain S.L.” So likely a bunch of scammers. Same with Player’s Ball. Best not get any hopes up for any sort of releases!

Right on!

I remember all the discussions here where those of us that collect records and cds were mocked for wasting our time on dead formats while we warned about all the reasons streaming was not dependable. Meanwhile, Black Album and all the protege albums are still on my vinyl shelf, still on my CD shelf, and the rips are still on my iPod classic and backed up to an external hard drive for easy, instant access. Hell, even if you don't have the $ or space for physical media, even piracy is a better option than streaming services. At least that way you have a copy that won't disappear over night.

Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

It was always a dumb argument. I mean, plenty of this stuff was always hard to get on CD. T's 12" compilation was such a revelation, and then there were other vinyl rips that had all of the associated artists. Even today T's compilation has tracks that have never been available on CD.

Oh come on, do you really think such tracks will be released randomly one by one?

.

Why is it that Prince fans always failt to read credits etc.? Housequake recently posted about the remastered "Darling Nikki" from the Syracuse concert being available on YouTube and I'm like: the cover is from a bootleg and the first line of the description on YouTube says "Provided to YouTube by Triple Vision Record Distribution" and later on says "℗ 2021 The Media Champ" -- how do you fall for that?

Idk...I just don't get the point of complaining about lack of content on streaming services. Your billionaire overlords' purposes are not to give you what you want. Their purpose is to be your billionaire overlords. If you want the shit, get it. It's on ebay from the little guy who found it at the thrift, or at the record store from the dead collector, or at the library, or,yeah, pirate that shit. Give your money to the artist or nobody. It was only 20 years ago that the ability to listen to the music you wanted to hear on demand meant you HAD to have a physical copy of it, AND a machine to play it on in your possession. Nobody then was whining that the radio wasn't playing enough of what they wanted to hear. You kinda just had to make it happen...these days, with the internet, it's easier than ever to get whatever you want, but damn, those billionaires holding out on me...

To be fair, they were sold on the idea that instead of continuing to invest in the expensive hobby of purchasing and collecting physical media they could simply pay a small monthly fee to stream anything they want anytime they want. Not so hard to understand the disappointment.

That said, many of us tried to warn them, and they mocked us for it. So shouldn't be hard to understand why we don't have much sympathy for them.

Meanwhile, we still have what they were promised, instant access to the music we want it. We can even have the conveniences they had by ripping our libraries to whatever digital player we want for instant access anytime, anywhere. Usually at a better quality. Kind of ironic..

Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.
