"Hello (Fresh Dance Mix) [Remaster 2025]" released on 7 November

https://www.youtube.com/w...G8tPZTrpCI

.

This is the upload provided by Warner Bros., i.e. the one for non-USA. There'll be an upload by Sony/Legacy for the USA as well. Possibly this one: https://www.youtube.com/w...rxCD92lnp0

.

It is likely also available on other streaming services, plus at online stores like Qobuz.

It sounds good..not as good as America and Paisley Park, but light years ahead of what we had.

I agree - I'm not impressed with the lack of the SD treatment but the remaster has sounded great so far

I always thought this mix of this track was underrated. I honestly can't tell the difference between the original and this new remaster back to backing them on headphones, but I am enjoying it☺️

So, something I've always noticed about this song.

The kind of grinding, repetitive noise at the end where he's talking about a new pair of shoes - it sounds a lot like the end of "Body" by The Jacksons (from Victory (1984)).

It's not a sample or anything, but they certainly are sisters.

Blasphemy!
This is one the very best B-sides, la crème de la crème.

Such glorious remaster, at 11 it thumps like the apocalypse,
the DX7 in your face, the two basses growling and slapping,
the sped-up guitar like scissors, and the vocal convulsions
over one of the best ethereal Prince synth lead line.

And the finale! Such glorious finale!
The "All My Dreams" one is a bit ahead,
but "Hello" gets very close. Mythical.

Absolutely love this song. So it has many great moments and they don't stop, from the intro, chicken scratch guitar, the ending, the vocal arrangements, Jill on background!
Cant believe my purple psychedelic pimp slap pimp2

And I descend from grace, In arms of undertow
I will take my place, In the great below

I know it is a good track. I bought it in '80s, and I bought it again in digital in '00. But I have little little interest in buy it again in '20. Sorry

I had never heard the cool bass playing in this song.

Btw, is his opening guitar sped up??

Why would it be sped up? Thats just talent playing.

Yes it;'s the old Prince trick (like the Camille vocals) of slowing the tape way down when recording the guitar, and then when it is played back at normal speed it sounds weird and extra-funky. You can hear it on other tracks like Erotic City. That's talent on steroids.

PIPS! Eurgh...

He didn't slow the tape down, they used a Publison to get that effect.

Really cool song, loved it immediately when it was released... quite personal lyrics, Prince being fed-up with all the outside critique of being weird and not contributing to USAaid for Africa.

And of course a cool grooooove cool

It's actually a bass sped up.
Like on "Love or Money".
The bass solo on "La La La He He Hee" is also sped up, just not as speedy lol
Just really cool studio wizardry!

Nope. The vibratoes betray it. It's sped up.

The Publison was released in 1984 so it’s possible Prince started using it around then but https://www.guitarcloud.o...l-machine/ suggests it was first used for Sign O’ The Times sessions.
There may or may not be something coming!

Oh, I thought Susan Rogers confirmed that in one of her talks that tehy used teh Publison to speed up and slow down his vocals or whatever they fed it.

Whatever the equipment used, the bottom line is that it was recorded at one speed and played back at a much higher speed and pitch. Guitar (or bass) don't sound like that, should be obvious to anyone.
