Prince’s Masterpiece Sees Sales Grow By More Than 100% As It Returns

Purple Rain sales. This article is kind of strange in that it's content is about sales of Purple Rain increasing since the last chart period, but fails to mention the “one step” reissue or the reissue of the splatter vinyl “prince store only” versions which no doubt account for those extra sales.

probably written by AI, with hardly any human oversight. The funniest bit was claiming Purple Rain never hit number one on the Album Charts...

Where Did Prince’s Purple Rain Peak on the Billboard Charts?

While Purple Rain has already sold exceptionally well throughout the decades, the set has never managed to lead the charge on the Top Album Sales chart. Prince has topped that list with both 3121 and The Very Best of Prince, while Purple Rain is one of four projects that stalled just one rung shy of ruling.

A little bit of fact checking might have helped, maybe by someone who was around in 1984 biggrin

One thing I found interesting / astonishing: that you can nowadays hit the Top40 on the Billboard 200 with just 3,100 copies sold (and surely no significant airplay)

Yeah, unless I am mistaken, Purple Rain the album sat at #1 for 6 months in '84. It was the song Purple Rain that never hit #1.

"New Power slide...."

It is amazing that Forbes can call this "content" and have the nerve to expect someone to pay to subscribe. It is literally missing the whole story.
