I'd like to have seen this leaked on the release date for ATWIAD next month.
Would have sent a message. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

I agree, it very much sounds like someone else did this on purpose Sometimes I think a book about the history of leaks and bootlegs would be as fascinating as a book on Prince. I mean seriously, some of the stories you hear are plain crazy, and I bet there's more I'd genuinely like to read a book like that.

Boycotts are legal. We need to stop buying any merchandise from the estate website. If someone you know —who isn’t aware about how shitty and ridiculous this estate is — is purchasing Prince merchandise online, tell them to stop immediately! Let them know everything about the greedy imbeciles who are running the estate: they do not care about Prince or his legacy, and they give ZERO SHITS ABOUT THE FANS! Start a huge boycott campaign towards the upcoming Around The World In A Day reissue/remaster! No vault tracks = laziness from the shitty estate Stop streaming Prince from YouTube, Spotify, Apple, TIDAL, etc. only listen to your own physical/digital copies Lets make their lives miserable until they hand the keys over to someone who actually gives a shit

I was among the happy fews who already had been entrusted with this collection, but I wasn't allowed to share it. I'm glad it's finally out there: it's a really strong selection, much better than the D&P outtakes IMHO — and the people I knew who also had it seemed to share this opinion.
That said, what a lost opportunity for the Estate: they could have released it and cashed on it, even just digitally if they weren't going to put out a fancy SDE, and now it's out there without their involvement
Y'all enjoy, it really made my week when I first heard it Out of interest, why were you not "allowed" to share it? Also, why would anyone want to prevent you from sharing it with the wider community? And why couldn't they have shared it themselves? I'll make you all a deal. If I ever get my grubby little mitts on anything that was previously unleaked, I'll share it with you all. Don’t forget, these would have been shared by someone who was given them officially. An employee of the record companies or The Estate, or maybe a journalist. That person could lose their job for this. [Edited 10/22/25 21:02pm]

So is it true some of these songs would have been released unmixed and unmastered had it gone to print?
Reply w/quote - E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Their crappy merchandise isn't what's keeping the Estate afloat. I agree that people should stop supporting it, but doing so won't change anything with regard to vault releases.
Most music that gets leaked nowadays comes from servers that haven't been secured very well or at all.
All the songs are mixed, and would have been mastered for release. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

It's great that these are finally out there for everyone to hear, but not gonna lie, the 128kbps downgrade is irritating. Same kinda shit the estate pulled with their Celebration handouts a few years ago, just to make sure the rest of us don't get too spoiled with HQ audio

Some of this stuff about who did the leaking feels wrong.I am grateful to whoever that was, but if someone has gone by a moniker on public forums I reckon posting on his government name is a bit like doxxing. Just saying.

I agree about the vocals. Thats why Dreams is probably my favorite track from this leak. U are now an official member of the New Power Generation

. This is what happened with Dream Factory: IIRC a bootleg label purchased a rip of the tape that was stolen from Wendy's car and paid a certain someone to get the best possible audio quality for the release (since he was an audio engineer and had in the past produced excellent results from other tapes), and then that got leaked shortly before it was released. . And still the bootleg did great numbers because having it on CD with a nice booklet and artwork was something a lot of fans wanted.

. If all these songs are mixed then the mixing engineer has to be fired. Some of these tracks sound horribly unmixed, just listen to I Hear Your Voice, for example. Friends don't let friends clap on 1 and 3.

I think it’s far more likely that someone shared them with a “trusted” person… who in turn shared them with a “trusted” person, and on and on until it got to someone with no connection to the source, and they leaked them. Hacking servers seems a little far fetched.

Of all the Tevin songs we got, real shame P's 91/92 version of Shhh not included

I listened to a lot of the tracks...i agree there aren't any gems like Open Book, Walk In Glory, Big Tall Wall 1, Rearrange or startling changed versions like Forever In My Life Early Demo, International Lover or the super extended How Come U Don't Call. I think most of these are also more demo like than something like My Tender Heart which was Prince putting in a FULL vocal effort. ...but, there are very interesting songs here.
Willing and Able - this extended version is super. It sounds like the live version they did in the Glam Slam show. I love it.
I love all of the Tevin Campbell songs as they were solid from the start. Uncle Sam is just a great song...great!
With This Tear.....total gem and I always felt this one was special...
1000 Hugs is a GREAT Song but that annoying click track makes the other version with Nona singing the better version.
Good Bye - the rap part sucks...but his part is just beautiful
Overall, if this was a part of the super deluxe set which would have included a remaster of the album, and a Blu Ray or at least, Live album of that killer Rex show...man oh man....the set would be an overall amazing package.
his live show went through the roof in these 90s...

The demo version of 51 hours is much more developed than I expected; I am surprised that there are Prince guide vocals on it and is that Margie Cox on backing vocals?

I think dreams is a gem, face to face is pretty great. My soppy side is liking Remember me! And I bloody love the groove in Paris 17984+ and Uncle Sam
