Do these m4as have this supposed alt version of 'Extraordinary'?
Or the album cut as well?

Yes but from the released (live : ONA) version.

?

It's the same version as on "The Vault... Old Friends 4 Sale" and it has nothing to do with the version on "One Nite Alone... Live!", despite the "Live" version descriptor in the filename/tag. There's just a glitch at 0:32 and the fade out is less abrupt.

For the OCD folks like me out there: you can hear a couple of snare drum hits at the end of the fade out on the leaked version, which you cannot hear on the official version.

A very interesting version of "Race".
Fabulous Middle-East musical sample.

I was skeptical for a few seconds, but then again it works.
Even the Thieves In The Temple house music piano becomes part of the groove, and not just some gimmick. The scratch gets better towards the end.

It's a bit "I'm learning today's kids sound", so I'm glad the released version was dry and minimalistic, it's way more punchy this way.

But still, it's dark, and it's not a remix, all vocals are redone to suit the mood, it could have been released as such, maybe he thought the dark S&M drone mood of Pheromone was enough for one album.

It's always amazing to discover how many arrangements and trials some songs went through. There are a bunch of versions of "Shy" which I discovered recently, that take the original in different directions, sometimes drastically and for the best.

The mind-boggling thing being, that Prince's demos/remixes/experiments very often sound way better than a lot of other artists released works of the time.

Yes, the vocals are different and unusual style with the mixture of Tony and Prince.

.

Interesting to hear a verse from Things Have Gotta Change in there as well.

.

The middle eastern sample sounds a bit like However Much U Want to me.

Theresa distinct lack of rock-type guitar/guitar soloing on this group of tracks.
There may or may not be something coming!

BTW someone knows what "group7" refers to? It is the hashtag and "caption" in "7" video on Prince Facebook account.

It's some kind of tik tok trend about being in group 7, nobody knows what it's about and everyone is intrigued. Some Prince fans starting using the song 7 to include it in the trend.

I have new appreciation for "With This Tear."

"Baby Doll" is a banger.

I really dig the remix of "Willing and Able." Feels closer to the video version.

"Uh-huh" is just fun.

"Race" is one of those things that shows how Prince pulls from other sources to make something new. (ie: Rave lead line in "The Max," etc.) It still sounds dated a bit.
"51 Hours" - ehhhh. Okay?

"House in Order" - hits harder than Mavis. This would've been great with "Rave," "God is Alive," and a few other choices. Would've been a very cool EP, or just a shorter album.

"1000 Hugs and Kisses" - why was this never released? This should've been on D&P, instead of "Jughead." Just a nice mid-tempo groove in the middle of the second side. Shiiiiiit! Or even a b-side! Fuck those re-records. And where's the Rosie vocal version?!?!?!?! That has to be 🔥!

I refuse to give "Arrogance" or "The Flow" air space. lol

Still working through the rest, but it's been a fun throwback listen.

I really like this version of Arrogance and The Flow.

It's rougher and looser.

I have With This Tear, Dream, Face 2 Face in sequence and they’re 3 amazing tracks to me. Madness to think he didn’t release any of these.
.
Seems a strange decision to not include the Willing And Able remix on the D&P SDE.
.
I wasn’t mad on Baby Doll when it first leaked a few months ago but after a few listens I’m loving it, especially musically

I like how he recycled the drum track from When 2 R In Love to build the Dream demo upon.

I was totally blanking on that, but knew I should know it. It does make it sound very demo-y. Live drums on that, and some fleshed out keys and strings would've made it so wonderful as a fully realized production.

Is The Ryde Divine the same as what was previously released? Shame it's not a Prince lead vocal version, great song.

This version of The Ryde Divine is missing a few overdubs that are present on the boot we've had for years. I don't recall which section it was but when I dropped both tracks into Soundforge, you could clearly see where the audio differs.

Just noticed that the 'F' word on the D&L leak is reversed but the boot version we've had is not. So I'm wondering if this is something the Estate or leakers did or if Prince masked the curse word at some point when he stopped cussing in preparation for releasing the track?

you're probably mixing up your versions because the one on this leak has both the
"what difference does it make if it don't make the fucking charts" as well as
"fuck that noise come on y'all let's go dance the night away" both intact and audible.

I think it was cencored for the broadcast or video version and that's the one on some boots.

Just saw a 3.3 GB version of this leak in FLAC.

.

Some people claim this FLAC version has some tracks that are slightly different from the previous leak.

Actual lossless FLAC, or transcode of the mp3 leak?

No idea, haven't listened to it nor investigated it, but like I said: there appear to be differences.

.

Lauriann is the same as the one released but the early lossless leak from before had the intro on it. That one had a date of 01APR2022 while this one has a date 14APR2022, so it looks like a revision was done when they edited the intro out for release, dated for the 14th.

.

Holly Don't Care fades out a little earlier, but it sounds like a different source in comparison to the mp3. The mp3 sounds cassette sourced, the lossless sounds like a master source.

.

Rave Church Style fades in on the lossless version in comparison to the mp3.

.

Uncle Sam fades out around 2 minutes earlier on the lossless.

.

Apparently the original set is 120 files and has multiple versions of some songs, e.g. Lauriann.
