Prince's Camille Voice & George Michael's Hard Day

I went running this morning and was listening to the Shep Pettibone Remix of "Hard Day" when it occured to me George was doing Prince's Camille voice, at least on this remix. "Faith" came out a few months after "Sign O The Times" in 1987. Never put this together before. Made my morning!

Yep, I think that George Michael and Madonna using religious imagery were totally influenced by what Prince was doing. It was this little sliver in pop in the late 80's where Jesus talk was HOT with our sex symbols in popular music.

Hell, I suspectthat the proliferation of black and white music videos in the late 80's/early 90's came hot on the heels of Prince's imagery during the Under the Cherry Moon/Parade era. You wanna tell me that Madonna's vogue wasn't influenced by the golden age of Hollywood that Prince embraced in UTCM?

Oh please.

.

Mixing the profane and the sacred is an age old thing in music. Check Marvin Gaye for instance.

.

Vogue originated from Madonna seeing dancers at the Sound Factory (who were not inspired by UTCM).

Nope. Prince invented it. Genius!

At 2:04, I always thought that it was Wendy's voice.

Imagine pretending to be a fan and then not knowing Gilbert Davison. Or Brad Marsh. Or even Mike Soltys or Todd Herreman. Names you can google in combination with the word "Prince" et voila, all questions aswered. But instead you construct some nonsense.

.

Also, what you hear at 1:41 is a sample from Jesse Johnson's Crazay. Which fans figured out almost 40 years ago.

Agree, The Family imagery was all about that whole vogue stuff (High Fashion and that All The way Vogue chant) even the cover of the albvum looks like from a 50s movie.

Touché but it seems that we can't have doubts with you.
I'll Google the names and I'm not ashamed to say that I wasn't aware of it.
About the sample "Crazay", Jesse is one of the artists that I never listened to.
It's indeed confirmed in Princevault.

Have a good day ..

It's ok. I've never heard of those people either. Maybe I'm not a Prince fan either lol .

Then again, maybe you don't need to know the name of some random drum technician to be considered a fan wink

Thanks Dude. I consider myself as a fan since 84' (saw Prince 27 times, know all his official songs...).
Those people were credited as "voices" and that was confusing also.
