The unreleased 2008 Songwriter project.

I think the next release we'll get from the vault will be the unreleased 2008 Songwriter project

They've already released Free from it seems just the sort of release the estate would approve of.

FJODOR

did this every get off the ground? I think the book was only a mock up
and there was only 1 cdr with a handful of songs.

I certainly hope they don't have much more than that because it had
zero appeal for me.

also, I don't think this project was ever mentioned on prince org so you
might want to explain to people what it was meant to be.

It has very little appeal to me also.

That's why I can imagine them releasing it.

As something Prince left behind as opposed to a posthumous outtakes compilation, the acoustic EP at least would be a cool thing to release.

The compilation of (mostly) released songs does only seem to make sense in the context of the book. Had the lastter been written and found, I guess it could generate some buzz as it would be a rare insight by a usually cryptic Prince into his own lyrics (despite a relatively poor songs selection in terms of the interest it could generate).

^ Agreed. Bring on the acoustic songs.

The book would be great to see what he had to say about the songs he included. A bit odd that it was born of Prince being "tired of people inserting themselves into his songs". Then choosing to clarify with a selection of his most obscure songs.

Very typical of him to put the focus on his most recent work and treat his past catalogue with disdain, though.

I've felt forever as if it's the opposite. I don't want to live in the '80s; causes depression. That's one reason he didn't. I'd love to get more later stuff. Also shows me the man and the artist he became. Later concerts etc. including Montreux & PAAM and England shows.
